“Around 22% of People Who Get CPR Out of Hospital Survive to Discharge
This is according to ScienceDaily. It may not sound like much. But it’s more than double the 8.8% that survive without CPR when the heart stops beating outside the hospital.

And the survival rate is slightly better than the 17% to 20% chance that that same person would survive if they’d gone into cardiac arrest in a hospital.”

Operation Smile Ghana this week, with its experienced instructors has trained a number of health care workers in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Operation Smile is committed to capacity development and health system strengthening as we continue providing free safe comprehensive care to children and adult born and living with cleft and palate across Ghana

While a majority of cleft patients are children, there are some adults who have lived all their lives without the opportunity to receive surgery mainly due to cost.

Thankfully Operation Smile provides free comprehensive safe surgery to all persons with cleft.
Help us spread the word and identify everyone who needs our support.

" I had the greatest shock of my life when I gave birth to my baby with a cleft. I had never seen such a condition before. It was a more difficult situation when my husband contemplated the idea of doing away with the baby. We thankfully got introduced to Operation Smile and found hope through the stories of other parents who had the same challenge and are now smiling through the help received from Operation Smile.

We have since been enrolled into the Operation Smile Nutrition Program and in this month of November, came to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to be reviewed and given the needed nutritional supplements to ensure my beautiful baby is growing well and ready for surgery when the time is due. I am very thankful to Operation Smile and everyone who gave me hope when I was completely hopeless"
