You may have made many New Year Resolutions over the past several years as most people do. The harsh truth is that ninety percent of the people fail to find any kind of success with their Resolutions year after year. Obviously every one begins with great enthusiasm as the New Year dawns, but soon the steam runs out in a month or two.So for this New Year to keep it simple, I suggest you make a simple Resolution - To Love your Self. Not only is it important that you should love your Self, it is also the least you can do for your Self.

I Love You
Most people believe these words are the Gospel Truth when they tell their Spouse, Parents or Children - I Love You. The truth is, you cannot love anyone else if you do not love your Self. For example, if you love your Spouse, would you not do all that you can do to keep her or him happy. If she or he is not feeling well or has some serious health issues, would you not be concerned and do whatever is required to put their health in order? Likewise, you would do the same for your parents and children. Why would you do all this? Because, you truly believe that you truly love them.

Do You Truly Love them?
If indeed you truly love them, would you not want to be there for them as long as they are alive physically on planet Earth? Would you like to take care of their burdens and troubles so they can live happily, or would you like to be a burden upon them? Imagine, some drastic health issue strikes you, like a heart attack, stroke, paralysis, or the greatest of all, Cancer. What would happen to your love then? Would you be able to take care of them, or would they have to take care of you?

Why Love Your Self?
If you truly love your near and dear ones' and wish to be there for them in their times of need until your last day on Earth, the only option you have, is to Love your Self. If you love your Self, you will have to take care of your Self. For example, if something is wrong with your spouse or child's health, you will definitely leave no stone unturned to put things right, because you love them. In a similar vein, if you love your Self, you should also leave no stone unturned to put things right with your own health.

So keep it simple this year -
Make a simple New Year's Resolution to Love your Self and start taking care of your Health. If you truly love your near and dear ones', then prove it to your Self, that you really do. There will be no greater happiness and no greater gift you can ever give them. The gift of your Good Health will not only go a long way to ensure their happiness and comfort, you will also set up an example for them to follow. When one person lights the candle of Loving your Self by beginning to take care of his or her Health, many other candles will be lit, from one home to the neighborhood, from the neighborhood to the city, from the city to the nation, and ultimately to the entire world. You can be that Candle by making this simple New Year Resolution - Love your Self.

[09/13/14]   The Window Through Which We Look

A young couple moves into a new neighborhood.

The next morning while they are eating breakfast, the young woman sees her neighbor hanging the wash outside.

"That laundry is not very clean", she said."She doesn't know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap."

Her husband looked on, but remained silent.

Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry, the young woman would make the same comments.

About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband:"Look, she has learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this."

The husband said, "I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows."

And so it is with life. What we see when watching others depends on the purity of the window through which we look.

I hope that you have a very blessed weekend!!

[07/23/14]   Ghana's currency, the cedi is plunging, it is by no means because of the new US Federal Reserve policy, as suggested by the country's president John Mahama, but rather because the country's deficits have skyrocketed.

Mahama cited the global effects of the American Federal Reserve's recovery on tapering, as having led to currency reactions in emerging markets.
The Ghanaian cedi's woes coincides with some of the difficulties presently facing currencies of big emerging countries like Turkey, affected by the new US Federal Reserve's (The Fed) monetary policy.
Currencies in distress

The Ghanaian cedi is not the only African currency in turmoil.

The South African rand and the Nigeria naira have lost between 2% and 3% of their respective values in relation to the dollar since the beginning of the year.

South Africa, being more integrated within the global economy, is most affected by the new US monetary policy not to mention its electoral uncertainties and the current tug of war between labour unions and mining companies.

Lagos, on the other hand, is in dire straits over President Goodluck Jonathan's controversial suspension of central bank governor, Lamido Sanusi, coupled with an expected decline in oil revenue.

In the midst of these struggles, countries in the CFA franc zone appear sheltered.

"While some are faced with problems and are undergoing a degradation of public accounts, overall, these concerns are smaller in magnitude compared to Ghana," declares Victor Lopes, senior economist at Standard Chartered Bank.

"Today, there are hardly any tensions surrounding the CFA franc: liquidity is satisfactory and macroeconomic performance of their big economies look good," he adds.
But while the cedi lost 4.4% of its value against the dollar in the first seven weeks of the year, it has fallen by about 40% in the past two years alone.
"While the Fed's policy has had an impact on the main capital markets, including 'frontier markets' such as Ghana, the main cause for the depreciation of the cedi cannot be imputed to the United States, but rather to major structural imbalances of the Ghanaian economy," says Sebastian Spio-Garbrah, chief analyst at DaMina Advisors, an economic intelligence consultancy firm.
David Cowan, economist and Africa specialist at Citigroup, is even more drastic: "The Fed policy has virtually played no role in the cedi's depreciation. It is an entirely domestic issue, with the budget deficit being at its core".
Unlike a number of African countries, Ghana has been far from exemplary when it comes to the management of public finances.
Between 2011 and 2013, Ghana's budget deficit slipped very rapidly from 5.5% to 10.2% of GDP, as expenditure increased sharply from 25% to 31% of national wealth.
"Roughly 18 months ago, the government adopted a new public salary structure (single spine salary structure), leading to an increase of all wages from 5% to 10%", notes Angus Downie, head of economic research at Ecobank.
In the meantime, the price of cocoa, the country's second export generator, has continued to decline and in March last year it was nearly 40% below the February 2011 level.
The price of gold, the country's premier source of foreign exchange, also nose-dived, losing more than a third of its value between October 2012 and the end of 2013.
According to Sebastian Spio-Garbrah, the loss of earnings amounts to about $1 bn, (€728.6) million in total.
"It's somewhat like a perfect storm scenario" posits Downie. "Oil revenue has not been enough to compensate these problems."
Twin deficits
An oil producer since December 2010, Ghana hoped to contain the slippage in expenditure and the drop in income through newly discovered resource.
But production has still not reached the expected level of 120 000 barrels per day.
"And in the first years, 90 to 95% of funds goes to petroleum companies in order to cover their investments. Not to the state", adds Downie.
As a consequence, in addition to the public fiscal deficit, there is a dramatic deterioration of the current account balance, falling in a space of two months from -5% to -13% in 2013.
This "twin deficits" phenomenon has been characterised by an escalation of domestic and foreign debts, and by a constant depreciation of the cedi's value.
Interest rates hikes, from 12.5% to 18% in one year, have not been enough to stabilise the currency.
Mahama's government has tried to slow down the increasing dollarisation of the economy without real success. And analysts argue that the new measures could encourage a black market boom for the greenback.
This comes in the face of waning general trust as a result of a significant inflation and the central bank's rather thin currency reserves.
While economic growth can become the key driving force for the improvement of Ghana's finances and currency, the exceptional 2011 economic growth and its real GDP increase of 15% seem, for now, to belong to a bygone era.
Ghana's growth fell to 0.3% in the third quarter of 2013. "There are clear signs of a slowdown", says Cowan.
"Of course, part of this decline is linked to a one-off slump in gold production. A solid rebound is less likely in the short term, with prices having dropped throughout 2013."
"Even though growth recovered in the last quarter of 2013, reaching 6% as in the beginning of the year, new data shows that it was less than 5% over the year as a whole."

Nagging irritates men but ‘constructive silence weakens them. The ‘boy’ in every man pumps out occasionally, the ability to handle this is a woman’s truest maturity. Men have secret struggles and silent pains, should you ever find them out, you have exhibited the greatest maturity. In the long-run your ‘words’ matter more to a man than your ‘looks’, so invest the right words. Earn a man’s respect and he will consider you the yard stick for all his action. [01/12/14]   Prepare to Fly!

A young woman sat on a park bench over lunch. And while she sat there she noticed a butterfly trying to come out of its cocoon. She watched it struggle and struggle for more than an hour. Eventually feeling sorry for it she reached for a small scissors, and gently used it to clip open the cocoon. To her surprise the butterfly that was released did not fly away it just sat there totally crippled. You see, what she did not realise was that the struggle a butterfly goes through, is what pumps blood into its wings so that it may be able to fly!

Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run, and not be weary;
and they shall walk, and not faint.

The eagle is an unusual bird, because it has mustered the ability to fly into a storm. It "mounts" strong winds as though it is going up a staircase. It is the only bird that you will find flying during a storm. This year, 2014, approach life with the majesty of an eagle! Do not be afraid of headwinds or opposition; use them; mount them like stairs for your success! The word "wait upon" comes from the Hebrew word, "qawah", which denotes, someone who is "serving" as they wait. It is an active process and not passive.

You might be struggling to get a job; you might be struggling to make your finances work; you might be struggling to fund your education; you might be struggling to make a small business successful; you might be struggling to get ahead in your job; you might even be going through viscous persecution, that even threatens your very life. Listen to me; from today, start thinking about it differently! No matter how dark, no matter how challenging, you are not going under; you are going over...just don't give up!

Happy New Year!

[10/30/13]   A well-known speaker started off his seminar holding up a $20.00 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this $20 bill?" Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this."
He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill. He then asked, "Who still wants it...?" Still the hands were up in the air. "Well," he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. "Now, who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air.

"My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We may feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value.

Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who DO LOVE you. The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know, but by WHO WE ARE.

You are special-Don't EVER forget it." If you do not pass this on, you may never know the lives it touches, the hurting hearts it speaks to, or the hope that it may bring. Count your blessings, not your problems.
