Young people very often clash with the older generation; mostly because we feel the older generation do not understand the younger generation. That has been the greatest challenge of the African continent and rightly so because the older generation may not entirely understand the African continent because it is the youngest continent on the planet, hence needs young minds to grow, develop and sustain it.
As it's believed by former President Obama through the setting up of Young African Leaders Initiative; the emerging generational leaders of Africa can work to drive economic growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, peace and security to help the continent grow and prosper.
This point came to deepened and strengthened the 12th of September occasion of the African Youth Charter adoption, where in the Executive Council Decision of the Banjul Summit 2006, 1st November was proclaimed and instituted as African Youth Day.
Africa Youth Day is an occasion to celebrate the youth on the continent, promote the increased recognition of youth as key agents for social change, economic growth and an opportunity to contribute and channel youth motivation, energy, skills and creativity towards political and socioeconomic advancements in all African society.
Youth Without Borders Ghana is therefore excited to celebrate and recognize the numerous youth blazing trails on the continent especially its’ own members who are brightening their darkened corners through social and entrepreneurial work. We therefore, wish to salute Julius Karl D. Fieve, our Volta Regional Coordinator who was in the company of a former UK Prime Minister Sir John Mayor amongst other world leaders recently at the One Young World 2018 Summit in the Hague, Netherlands. Edmund Atweri Duodu who is a World Health Organization Network Leader for his outstanding work in the health sector. We cannot forget Kenneth Gyamerah who is Chevening scholar in the UK and represented us in the Model UN in Geneva, Switzerland and to mention our Board Chairman Frimpong Musa, a former AU field officer and the founder of DUAPA Africa in the China, Ernest Obeng our former Accounts Director and a PhD candidate in China, Bernard Brian, Richard Apau, Linda Adwoa Adomako and Harriet Yayra Adzofu all working as youth ambassadors in the various organs of the African Union in different countries. We cannot forget our gallant members in Ghana and various parts of the world doing amazingly great things to change the negativities and the wrongs they witness around them.
We also commend all members slated for this year’s World Youth Summit in Egypt as speakers, panelist and attendees. We are humbled.
This year’s African Youth Day celebration is themed “Raising Youth Voices Against Corruption in Africa”. A theme that is fit for the occasion especially after the exposé by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas; Number 12.
Youth Without Borders Ghana challenges young people, youth organizations and relevant stakeholders to raise their voices against corruption. More so, we encourage the government to strengthen its structures to create the environment to make corruption distasteful and be a model in celebrating the role of Youth in fighting corruption.
As rightly echoed in the words of H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, the Chairperson of African Union Commission; “to enable the African youth to fight against corruption, the government must provide a viable environment through the implementation of policies which favour investment in the four pillars (of Africa’s Demographic Dividend)”.
This was also supported by H. E. Prof Sarah Anyang Agbor, the AU commissioner for Human Resources, Science and Technology “Young People must be empowered with resources to fight against corruption and the space needed to thrive which will create worthwhile advancement towards actualizing our shared goals”.
Youth Without Borders Ghana stands with the African Union in the launch of the African Youth Month to broaden the scope of youth action in realising the narrative, A corrupt free Africa.
We entreat young people in Africa and Diaspora and all youth organizations as part of the annual event, partner each other to organize workshops, panel discussions, entrepreneurial trainings and engage in policy roundtable discussions with corruption experts and government officials to combat corruption in Africa towards the achievement of Agenda 2063.

We are disseminating the outcome of a survey we conducted with YOTA before election 2020 among the youth on what they expect from duty bearers. We'll also design a roadmap for implementation of the research outcome in the municipality.

We collaborated with YOTA - Youth Opportunity & Transformation in Africa (formerly Youth Empowerment Synergy) to conduct a survey on the needs of young people in Ghana some weeks to #Election2020 under the My Voice My Vote Campaign project.
The analysis of the data collected (see mvmv.yotaweb.org) revealed that three main issues remain top priorities of the Ghanaian Youth: Employment, Education and Health.
Last Saturday, we were on #AkomaFm to discuss the outcome of the research and also assess the efforts of government in that regard. To be able to develop a strong and dynamic youth, we need to do more to redeem many young people from becoming hopeless in cycles of poverty. We call on government and all stakeholders of youth development to put measures in place, especially skills training, for the good of the youth.
