Court today.

In Republic v Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi & 2 Others, the Court has given the accused person a final date of Thursday, May 28 2026 to call any further witness.

This follows a prayer by Counsel for the accused, Andy Appiah Kubi Esq. for an extension of time to call additional witnesses after the accused himself had testified in Court.

Deputy Attorney General, Dr Justice Srem Sai Esq. opposed the prayer citing the fact that Counsel for the accused had indicated weeks ago that those witnesses would be ready this week but failed.
He added that no witness statements had been filed before the court based on which adjournment can be taken and that even if there were, the Rules give the court the power to close the trial where witnesses are unavailable to be cross-examined.

The Court obliged the prayer for Counsel for the accused indicating that it will extend time to Thursday 28th May for the accused to put their said witness in the box in default of which the court will assume that the accused has no more witnesses and therefore adresses, if any, will be ordered and further to that, a date set for judgement.
