๐ŸŽ€ October was all about going PINK at GIRSAL!
Throughout the month, we actively advocated and encouraged both staff and partners to prioritize health awareness through our initiative, promoting the Act. Check. Support, mantra.

To wrap up Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we hosted an insightful Breast Cancer Health Talk, reinforcing the importance of regular checkups, early detection, and supporting those affected.

The men were not left out! As they stand in support of women's breast cancer awareness, we also combined the session with a Prostate Cancer Health Talk to emphasize the need for men to take charge of their health, too. The health talk was delivered in partnership with Old Mutual Ghana

At GIRSAL, we believe that awareness saves lives, and together, we can make a lasting impact.

Strengthening Rural Banking for Agricultural Growth

GIRSAL organized a two-day training session on Agricultural Credit Assessment and Management for key staff of Manya Krobo Rural Bank across its branches. The training equipped participants with practical knowledge and tools to provide affordable credit tailored to the needs of the agricultural sector, enabling them to better serve rural communities and agribusiness MSMEs.

This initiative forms part of GIRSALโ€™s partnership with CapPlus Exchange under the Mastercard Foundationโ€™s FIRST+II Program, where we are implementing a Pilot Loan Portfolio Guarantee (LPG) facility through the Nimble Capital component of the program. The LPG is designed to lower risk exposure for rural banks and non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) by offering portfolio guarantees. This innovative mechanism will enable financial institutions to expand lending to underserved borrowers with similar risk profiles, particularly smallholder farmers, youth- and women-led enterprises, and other rural agribusinesses.

The 18th Cohort of GIRSALโ€™s Agriculture and Agribusiness Lending Course for staff of financial institutions was held from Monday, 1st - 5th September, 2025.

Delivering the opening remarks, GIRSALโ€™s CEO, Mr. Nicholas Afrifa, encouraged participants to take full advantage of the sessions to deepen their understanding of agricultural financing and strengthen their ability to support Ghanaโ€™s agribusiness sector. He also urged them to increase their appetite for lending to agriculture, emphasizing its role in driving sustainable growth and ensuring food security.

The training continues to equip the financial sector with the skills to better understand the dynamics, risks, and opportunities in agricultural lending. This cohort is the last for 2025, capping off another impactful year of strengthening financial institutionsโ€™ commitment to agricultural financing.

The training is delivered in partnership with the Development Bank Ghana and the National Banking College.
