Community Cleanup Activity Help at Winneba Coastal area by CLEAN OCEAN PROJECT GHANA, UEW CHAPTER.
The WasteβtoβPurpose initiative organized a vibrant community cleanup exercise along the coastal area of Winneba. This activity brought together volunteers, students, and local residents, all united by a shared commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable waste management.
Participants, equipped with safety vests, gloves, and face masks, worked diligently to collect debris from sandy beaches, fishing sites, and community spaces. Using shovels, wheelbarrows, and large trash bags, they removed waste materials that otherwise threatened marine ecosystems and public health.
Beyond the physical cleanup, the event fostered teamwork, awareness, and community engagement. Local organizations such as Clean Ocean Project Ghana, Plastigem, and Kofiβs Consult collaborated to emphasize the importance of recycling, responsible waste disposal, and protecting coastal livelihoods.
The activity also highlighted the social dimension of environmental work. Children, families, and fishermen joined in, reinforcing the idea that sustainability is a collective responsibility. The slogan βLeave nothing but footprintsβ captured the essence of the day encouraging participants to enjoy natural spaces while preserving them for future generations.
This cleanup was not just about removing waste; it was about transforming purpose into action, strengthening community bonds, and inspiring longβterm stewardship of the environment.
