Burkina Faso🇧🇫: Military Govt set to build a gold refinery targets a stop on exportation of raw gold. ..orders for a review of mining agreements

Project to refine the country's gold on site and revision of the mining code for a better grip on natural resources.
According to press release from the Council of Ministers on Wednesday 07/12/2022 sent to AFRICAN REPORT FILES: "The Council also gave instructions to carry out due diligence on certain issues that may allow Burkina Faso to take advantage of its mining resources, in particular the review of the mining code and the establishment of a refinery project to refine gold of Burkina in order to know exactly the gold content in Burkina and what the industrial companies exploit as a volume of gold in the country", indicated the Minister in charge of mines, Simon Pierre BOUSSIM.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Mali’s strongman, Assimi Goita held a diplomatic conversation on Wednesday to discuss pressing issues regarding Mali and their partnership. Goita revealed that the conversation focused mainly on economic and security issues.

“I had a rich telephone conversation with H.E.M. Vladimir Putin. We discussed the ways and means of strengthening bilateral cooperation, in particular economic and security”, Goita said.

He added in a tweet that, “we discussed the support of the Russian Federation for Mali’s political transition and I praised the quality of our partnership, which respects the sovereignty of Mali and the aspirations of its population.”

Multiple reports also indicated that Mali’s President has been invited for the upcoming 2023 Russia-Africa summit scheduled to take place in St. Petersburg.

Seva is an Island located in the Keta Lagoon in the Volta Region of Ghana.
This island is important as a bird watching site because it is a stop over point for many migratory birds.
The town has many attractions such as the sandy beaches, general cleanliness and local story telling in Ewe.
However, the town also has a very mysterious and superstitious cultural background.

According to popular folklore, the stones on the beach of Seva cannot be carried across the sea to the mainland. The gods of the island simply will not allow it. Trying to defy the gods and carrying stones across the sea will have unfortunate consequences on anyone carrying out the act.

Ghana Was Named After An Ancient Empire Which Boasted Significant Power, Wealth And Territory. It Was Called The Ghana Empire. The Name Was Adopted At Independence Because It Was Believed That The People Inhabiting The Gold Coast Had A Historical Connection With The Ghana Empire.

The First Person To Make This Suggestion Was Rev. J. B. Anaman In His Book, "The Gold Coast Guide" Published In 1895. Next And Building On This Was Lady Luggard, Wife Of The Infamous Lord Luggard Who Spearheaded What Came To Be Known As Indirect Rule. Luggard's Book, "A Tropical Dependency" Also Included The Stories Of The Empires Of Mali And Songhai And Was Used In Achimota School In The 1920's.

At The Time Of His Death, The Legendary James Kwegir Aggrey Was Working On A Major History Thesis To Establish The Historical Connection Between The People Of Gold Coast And Not Only Ghana Empire, But Mali, Songhai, Egypt And Abyssinia. This Was Not Published Because He Died Before He Could Finish It. Rev. W. T. Balmer Who Used To Teach At Mfantsipim School Also Wrote About This Connection To Ghana Empire In 1926.

These Aroused The Interest Of J. B. Danquah Who Published His Book, "Akim-Abuakwa Handbook" In 1928, Two Years After Balmer's Book And Thirty-Three (33) Years After J. B. Anaman First Made The Suggestion. However Danquah In His Book Proposed That The t
Territory Should Be Called "Akanland" Instead Of Gold Coast. This Drew Sharp Criticism And He Then Suggested "Akan-Ga" As A Replacement.

The Newspaper, Called "West Africa", Again Criticised This Saying, "It Appears Dr. Danquah's View Of Nationhood Does Not Extend To The Non-Akan Population Of The Northern Territories". Upon Further Deliberations, Danquah Then Suggested "New Ghana".

Meanwhile In 1948, After The Riots And Following The Arrest Of The UGCC Leaders, Some Students And Teachers Of Mfantsipim And St. Augustine's College Embarked On A Demonstration To Demand Their Release. These Students Were Dismissed And Kwame Nkrumah Founded A School For Them Called "Ghana National College".

At Independence In 1957, The Name Ghana Was Eventually Adopted And To Quote Nkrumah, He Said "We Take Pride In The Name Ghana, Not Out Of Romanticism But As An Inspiration For The Future".

This Is How You Became A Ghanaian Rather Than A Gold Coaster. So The Name "Ghana" Means, "Inspire The Youth For A Better Future"!!

In Dunbar Creek on St. Simons Island, Glynn County, Georgia, there is a deeply historic site called Igbo Landing.

The site is named because of the mass su***de of Igbo people captured as slaves in 1803.

The history started when about 100 Igbo people from what's now known as Nigeria were captured, bounded and put on ship to be sold as slaves in plantations across the Americas.

The slaves were bought for about $100 each by slave merchants John Couper and Thomas Spalding. During the voyage, the Igbo slaves rose in rebellion and drowned their captors.

The ship was grounded. Left with no clear direction of how to go back home and refusing to proceed to the land of the enslavers, all the slaves marched ashore singing, led by their high chief. Then at his order, they all committed su***de by walking into the marshy waters of Dunbar Creek. They chose to die rather than be a slave in an unknown land.

Today, the story stands as a cherised cultural history of bravery for millions of African-American.

The Igbo Landing story is now part of the curriculum for coastal Georgia schools, reminding young African-Americans that some of their ancestors were brave people who would rather die than live in oppression.

ILY stands for “I Love You.” The shape of these three letters can be represented with a single hand figure using their correspondence with the American Sign Language fingerspelling.

The sign should not be confused with the so-called “sign of the horns” or “devil horn,” commonly used in heavy metal music. It differs because the sign ILY also extends the thumb:

🇬🇭BREAKING: Numerous reports have surfaced stating that a U.S. military aircraft with four people onboard has crashed in northern Norway.

The V-22 Osprey aircraft was taking part in a NATO military exercise called Cold Response when it was reported missing at 1826 CET (1726 GMT).

The plane was on a training exercise and was due to land at 1800 CET (1700 GMT). There was bad weather in the area, with conditions worsening.

The fate of the troops onboard the aircraft is not currently know. 🌎More to follow.

U.S. astronaut Mark Vande Hei will break the U.S. single spaceflight record of 340 days tomorrow. However, some are questioning about his upcoming return in the midst of deepening tensions between the U.S. and Russia.

Vande Hei is scheduled to leave with two Russian astronauts aboard a Russian capsule for touchdown in Kazakhstan on March 30 but decades of peaceful off-the-planet partnership seem be at risk during his 355 days in space.

According to NASA, the space station operations continue as planned as usual. NASA officials said Russia’s space agency has confirmed to bring all the 3 astronauts back. The U.S. and Russian space agencies are working on other long-term system with SpaceX as well.
