Today is a day to celebrate the Girl Child, as we strive for better education and opportunities for our women and girls. The Girl child will grow up in a society where women are given equal opportunities to be great .

The Team visited Norsaac in Tamale and it's sub implementing partners, (Sontaba and Young Urban Women's Movement). Norsaac is in the third year of a five year implementation programme, power to the youth. This has been implemented in the five regions in the Northern part of Ghana. This was a third party monitoring and data quality Assessment (DQA) of some of the implementing partners of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Busara Centre for Behavioral Economics contracted Kanko Associates to provide support in data collection as part of research to diagnose and solve for the behavioural barriers and leverage enablers to adoption and active use of farmerline’s services amongst farmers in Ghana. Mixed research methods were used to sample 800 small holder farmers that utilize farmerlines digital services in 7 Northern Region districts in Ghana; Gushegu, Kumbungu, Nanumba North, Nanumba South, Mion, Saboba, Tamale Metropolitan. These sites were chosen due to the strong presence of AGRA Farmerline. Through this research, Busara is supporting Farmerline as part of AGRA’s technical assistance to its partners in understanding behavioural problems farmers and Community-Based Advisors (CBAs) face in accessing and effectively using the digital application

In Celebration of Green Ghana Day 2022, Children were given seeds to plant and nurture on their own, and a year on, we are seeing great results. There are a number of Children who have been able to nurture their seeds and they all very proud of themselves. Green Ghana is fast approaching this year and Suahunu will embark on yet another tree planting spree.

The Managing Director of Kanko Associates, Mrs Mary Tobbin Osei, was contracted by Tetra Tech Ghana to facilitate a workshop for the Gender and Inclusion Learning Event at Elmina Beach Resort on the 23rd and 24th of May 2023 in the Central region. This was part of the Ghana Fisheries Recovery Activity (GFRA) Programme with support and funding from USAID. It was a very engaging workshop as the facilitator indulged partners from different institutions to share their perspectives on inclusion and how their organizational mandates relate to GFRA. Participant resolved to create a network of the partners in the fisheries sector to ensure continues cross learning and effective collaboration and strong coordination in the discharge of their respective mandate.

Sustainable Development Alliance (SusDA) is in partnership with We Care for Humanity (WCH), a US-based NGO and JAIN University in India. This collaboration will offer full and partial scholarships to needy but brilliant Ghanaian students to pursue Undergraduate, and Postgraduate Education as well as Skills Training. The Initiative is being implemented under We Care for Humanity's Education for Humanity (E4H) Project across the world.

Touton Ghana, a reputable cocoa buying company intends to establish and operationalize a plan to systematically make their farmer groups/Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs) investment ready for impact investment. As part of the process, Kanko Associates has been contracted to assess the farmer groups/VSLA in the cocoa districts of New Edubiase and Twifo Praso through key informant interviews and focus group discussions. Based on the assessment, Kanko Associates will develop Investment Readiness Plan for extrapolation in other farmer groups/VSLAs to attract impact investment.

Women have been kept at the back stage for so long. As we promote empowerment of women and girls, we ought to create opportunities for women/girls and encourage them to take up leadership roles in their schools, work spaces and other social circles. We need to work towards changing women and girls’ orientation and their mindset that leadership is for only men and boys. Churches, other religious bodies and communities should consider giving women leadership responsibilities. More so, as a country, we need to enact policies and invest in interventions that will encourage more women to take up political positions.

The Youth Ministry of Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) Atomic in collaboration with SusDA a subsidiary of Kanko Associates, embarked on a Suahunu trip to Bunso Eco Park during the Christmas season. The aim was to facilitate experiential learning among young people in natural resources and environmental conservation as a contribution for the fight against climate change. It was an interactive trip and participants had the opportunity to learn outside the usual environment in Accra.

Kanko Associates joined in-person participants of the 6th Annual Knowledge Sharing Workshop on Child Protection organized by Participatory Development Associates (PDA) in Accra. All stakeholders of Child Development & Rights in Ghana were fully represented for insightful discussion on Child Labour and the Working Child: Institutional Approaches to Child Labour Remediation in Ghana.

A Suahunu trip to Bunsu Eco Park as part of SusDA's Eco-tourism agenda to promote tourism amongst the young ones and also to enlighten them on the importance of resource conservation and the negative effects of climate change.

Some graphical images to remind us about the gradual and continuous land degradation that is worsening climate change. This calls for concerted efforts to fight against climate change and save the world so our descendants will have a better world to live in.

ActionAid Ghana (AAG) has contracted Kanko Associates to undertake an endline evaluation of the Country Strategy Paper (CSP VI) titled, "People's Power for Social Justice" for the period of 2018 to 2022. Subsequently, the consultants will support AAG to develop its next CSP for the period 2023-2027 in fulfillment of the stipulations laid out in ActionAid's Accountability, Learning and Planning Systems (ALPS). The assignment involved overall programme coverage across 11 out of 16 regions in Ghana namely; Upper West, Upper East, Northern, North-East, Savannah, Bono, Bono East, Ahafo, Greater Accra, Volta and Oti. All key stakeholders including AAG Board members, Staff across programme offices, Unit Heads at the head office, Partner CSOs, Social Movements in the regions, project beneficiaries and collaborating institutions were engaged to solicit their views on the evaluation.

The global climate is deteriorating rapidly, temperatures are rising worldwide, droughts are becoming longer and more extreme around the world. The story is not different in Ghana and surrounding countries. Suahunu, an initiative of Kanko Associates has started the "One child, One tree" project as a contribution towards the fight against climate change. This would help to promote young people's love for nature and instill new attitude towards sustainable development through tree planting and nurturing exercises.

The girl child is still subjected to modern day slavery. They’re still not allowed in schools and are not given opportunities as compared to their male counterparts. The advent of social media has unearthed a lot in this area. This requires of activists for gender equality and social inclusion to increase advocacy for a better world devoid of discrimination.
