Story time:
When I first started to cross-stitch, my Dad was very ill. Cancer had spread everywhere, and I often did the bulk of my stitching sitting up at night with him. He couldn't see as well as he used to, but by the end of the night, he'd ask me to hand him what I was working on. He took his time and felt over my stitches then commended my progress, said the stitches felt just right.
Now when I embroider, I add beads or anything else texturally nice. Not everyone can appreciate arts and crafts in the same way. My mind always goes back to how he would touch all the stitches and be so happy.
And that, friends, is how my mixed media minimalist embroidery style was born. ♡
