Dylan Kight
Dylan Kight writes songs about love, loss, friendship, and the long way around. With The Nightbirds, those songs come alive with urgency and hope.
This Saturday we will be playing Smith’s Olde Bar with and ! 6 more sleeps and we will see you there. Ticket link in bio!
One year ago we celebrated the release of Late Bloomer in a Wallflower Suit at Smith’s Olde Bar.
That night meant more to me than I probably knew how to say at the time. Those songs were written across a season of change, friendship, loss, and finding my footing again. Getting to share them in a room full of people who cared enough to show up is something I’ll never forget.
So it feels right to come back and celebrate the anniversary together in the same place.
If that record meant something to you, I’d really love for you to be there.
We’ll be playing songs from Late Bloomer, a few newer ones, and sharing the night with some great friends.
Come celebrate with us. 🤍
Tickets available now.

“Dogs with Wings”
Fake flowers and real tears
I drove for hours
don’t know how I got here
How I got here
The air was cool
Your hands were hot
The sky was open
The roads were blocked
I knew I was changing
I stayed too long
I left too early
I’m not sure
if it hurt or helped me
The flowers that grow
In the cemetery rows
They grow anyway
If dogs don’t get wings
At the end of everything
Then what the hell is heaven for
Anything can happen
that’s all it ever does
The cigarette in your left hand
wild hair tucked behind your ear
The sun was hot on my arm
Driving south
I was invited
The police were called
You told me it was all your fault
I left with nothing more
I stayed too long
I left too early
I’m not sure
if it hurt or helped me
The flowers that grow
In the cemetery rows
They grow anyway
If dogs don’t get wings
At the end of everything
Then what the hell is heaven for
Anything can happen
that’s all it ever does
The ghosts that scare me the most
Are the words stuck in my throat
Memory is a beast
A stranger asking me
Why shoes hang from the wire above
I tell him I don’t know
But the concrete is hot
and I really need to go
Anything can happen
that’s all it ever does
All it ever does
Until we are done
