Last year we listed this Lotus Europa, and in the description we stated the following:

"Little is known about the history of this early Europa Twin Cam... It is understood to have spent some time in Germany before being returned to the UK in May 1979 when a Flight Lieutenant S. Bainbridge, stationed at RAF Brize Norton, had the Lotus inspected by Thames Valley Police... and it was consequently registered with DVLA in June 1979."

We had this superb comment arrive in our inbox, that fills some of the gaps...

"I was that Flt Lt S Brownbridge who owned this Europa in 1979. In fact it was in the UK from at least 1977 as it was being rebuilt by another officer. I bought it off him & finished it off with the help of numerous RAF tradesmen who normally worked on RAF VC 10's. It was finished in Black & gold JPS livery in my day. I sold it on about June 1980 when I left the RAF."

It's great to have this extra bit of information with the car!
