The 2020 summer of avocado research begins....7 avocado trees trimmed and ready for nutrient experimentation!πŸ€“πŸ’š They're also in my homemade containers using old compost bags πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ’š

Can you believe it's taken nearly 17 months for this avocado to germinate?
I have another seed planted at exactly the same time, from the same variety....and it's over 12 inches tall with loads of leaves!

Four years ago....the first two avocados I started to grow! πŸ˜„ Since then a lot has changed! πŸ₯‘ Those two trees are still going and form part of the avocado clan which is over 150 trees of varying ages and sizes.
I don't grow them in water anymore after the research I did.
Still no flowers or fruit on the trees I have...but still pursuing the dream of getting avocado trees to flower and fruit in the UK 😊😊

Our first trees to go into in 2020 😊 Ermintrude and Florence 😊 Florence is camera shy 😜 It's a real joy to grow our avocado's but there's something special about writing the label, giving it a fresh topping of cotswold stone gravel and a lovely outer pot 😊 Ready for a new loving owner! πŸ’š

πŸ“£Let the trials begin!πŸ“£
This is Mysterio, a 60cm tall avo tree. This one is part of our outdoor trial to see which conditions are best for avo trees in the UK. We're also trialling nutrient feeds to see which additives keep them in tip-top condition! πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ŠπŸ’š

Bit of new growth coming through on 'C1'... yep. ... all our avos have secret code names so we can tell who's who πŸ˜ŽπŸ’š

Talk about 'like a phoenix'... this avo was transplanted into a bigger pot...and as sometimes happens it didn't like it. The leaves started going brown and it looked pretty sorry for itself.
Since a previous avo did this....then died (RIP avo) ... with this one I thought it time for different measures. Trimmed the stem back from 3ft to around 6 inches.
Looked after it, new shoots appeared and now it's healthy and growing wonderfully! πŸ˜ƒπŸ’š
