🚨 Update on coronavirus restrictions 🚨

Thanks to your efforts, coronavirus rates remain relatively low in Wales, and more and more people are being fully vaccinated every day.

This means we can fully move to Alert Level 1 from Saturday 17 July.

Further details in the post below ⬇️

From Saturday, up to six people can meet and organised indoor events can take place.

We will relax the restrictions around children’s residential activity centres and ice rinks will be able to reopen too.

Also from Saturday there will be no limit on the amount of people who can gather outdoors in Wales - and we will no longer have to social distance when outdoors.

We must stick to 6 people and keep our distance when indoors to reduce the risk.

We've also set out our long-term plan to ease remaining restrictions - known as Alert Level 0 – from 7 August if it is safe to do so.

In Wales, we’ve acted as a team and taken action collectively to protect each other – this will need to continue when restrictions are eased.

The virus is still with us and we know many people are still anxious about going out and about.

Social distancing requirements and mask rules will remain indoors from 17 July -but we will gradually ease masks as the public health risk decreases.

As we continue with our cautious plan to ease restrictions, please take up both doses of the vaccine - you need both for maximum protection.

It offers us the best protection against this awful virus and we’re very proud of our world-leading vaccination programme here.

It is everything you have done and the hard work of our vaccinators that means we can now ease restrictions further and plan for the future.

Diolch o galon to you all for respecting the restrictions and saying yes to the vaccine – you have helped to keep Wales safe.

The First Minister Mark Drakeford will provide providing more information on the relaxation of coronavirus restrictions in his press conference this afternoon after 5pm today.

More detail about our long term plan is available here

Urgent call for people to come forward for COVID testing in Newtown and surrounding areas.

Following a sharp rise in COVID cases in Newtown over the past few days Powys Teaching Health Board and Powys County Council are reopening the Asymptomatic Testing Centre at the Park Street Day Centre in Newtown from Saturday 10 July.

The sharp rise in cases in Newtown sees the area with case rates of over 500 per 100,000

COVID symptoms range from extremely serious to those who have no idea that they have the virus. Those with no symptoms may be ‘silent spreaders’; infecting others without realising it.

We ask that as many people as possible come forward for testing. The Park Street centre is able to carry out rapid COVID tests for anyone who does not have any symptoms of COVID. It’s really quick and easy; the test takes just a few minutes and results will be sent by text in half and hour.

The testing centre will be open from 11:30-5:30 seven days a week from Saturday 10 July.

It is essential that we all continue to wear face coverings and follow the guidance on social distancing.

You can find more information on testing in Powys here: https://pthb.nhs.wales/coronavirus/coronavirus-testing/

No appointment is needed to attend this session.

Cases of COVID are rising again in the community and it is essential that as many people as possible are vaccinated as quickly as possible.

BIAP yn cynnig sesiwn frechu galw heibio – nid oes angen apwyntiad

Fel rhan o'n polisi 'Gadael neb ar ôl' ar frechu COVID, bydd Bwrdd Iechyd Addysgu Powys yn cynnig sesiwn frechu galw heibio dos cyntaf yn y Drenewydd ddydd Gwener 9 Gorffennaf.

Gall unrhyw un ym Mhowys sy'n 18+ oed nad yw eto wedi cael eu dos cyntaf o frechlyn COVID ddod draw i'r Ganolfan Brechu Torfol yng Nghanolfan Hamdden Maldwyn rhwng 8.30yb a 4.30yp i dderbyn eu brechlyn.

Nid oes angen apwyntiad i fynychu'r sesiwn hon.

Mae achosion o COVID yn codi eto yn y gymuned ac mae'n hanfodol bod cymaint o bobl â phosibl yn cael eu brechu cyn gynted â phosibl.
