Important Update - Covid Vaccination and Booster Programme

Due to the governments push on the Covid Vaccination and Booster Programme, which our practice is delivering and having to prioritise at this time, our routine services may be disrupted for a short time.

We thank you for your patience during this time.
We aim to have invited everyone aged 18 years and older for their booster by the end of this week (providing that their 2nd dose was more than 13 weeks ago).
Eric Moore Partnership Medical Practice has become the first GP practice in the country to begin screening to detect a life threatening, inherited condition.

The practice has begun offering heel prick tests for familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH) which can lead to extremely high cholesterol levels.

Face coverings when visiting the Practice

In accordance with the Government guidance, we are asking all persons aged 12 years and over to wear a face covering if you come to the surgery for an appointment or any other reason.

This will help protect you, other patients in the waiting area and our staff. We thank you for your understanding.
Introducing the FY2 Doctor

In Eric Moore Partnership Medical Practice there will be Foundation doctors in their second year as a junior doctor working, commonly known as ‘F2’ or ‘FY2 doctor’.

These are fully trained doctors who have worked in the hospital for one year and then as part of their training come to General Practice for a four-month rotation. They take on a similar role to a normal GP whilst they are here, however they are not as experienced and importantly are not trained general practitioners.

They have longer appointment slots and will always get advice from a trained GP regarding each patient they deal with. Some of them may go on to train and become a GP.

Please welcome Dr Zubair and Dr Arnell who will be with us working as FY2 doctors until April 2022.

The Eric Moore Partnership Medical Practice is an innovative & modern dual-site NHS Family Practice, based in Warrington.

Primary Care Update 👩‍⚕️

Unfortunately, a significant number of staff are currently COVID-19 positive, or are having to isolate; therefore the response from Primary Care may be a little slower today.

Please be patient 🙏

This has been the biggest challenge the NHS has faced in our lifetime and we’re extremely grateful to the volunteers who have given up their time to perform vital roles 🙏

Volunteers have made a huge contribution so far to the largest vaccination programme in NHS history and we’re calling on their help once again as we move into the next phase.
So, if you can spare a few hours a week, please do sign up.

There are currently stories circulating through various media outlets that GPs won’t see patients face to face.

We would like to reassure patients that we have been seeing patients face to face throughout the pandemic and will continue to do so going forward. Seeing and examining patients in our surgery is enjoyable, rewarding and is a core aspect of our training as doctors.

We went live with total triage eConsults at Eric Moore Partnership pre-pandemic (November 2019) and our telephone triage and telephone consultations have been in place since 2016.

Adopting these processes has enabled us to offer more appointments, whilst continuing to see those who need to be seen in person. Telephone and remote consultation are safe and most patients find them convenient and flexible, however, we will continue to see hundreds of patients face to face every week. This is based on a safe assessment on the telephone first.

We would like to thank all of our patients for your support. We are working hard to provide a safe, efficient service.

Best Wishes

Eric Moore Partnership

The benefits of video group consultations are:

*Patients have longer to talk to the Nurse
*Patients get to meet others in the same situation
*Easy to join just a click of a button
*Learn from others experience
*More convenient as no need to travel
*Safer under COvid-19 restrictions
*Relatives can join

Global Shortage

A supplier to the NHS has advised us of a global shortage of some equipment used for taking blood tests.
Anyone who needs a test for urgent health problems, will still get one but where your clinician recommends that it’s safe to do so, then you may be asked to come back for a test at a later date, or your appointment may be rescheduled.
Given the nature of the shortage, we cannot give an exact date for when the test will be rescheduled, but please be assured that if your condition or symptoms require it, then you will get a test, and we will be re-booking your test when supplies become more easily available.
If your condition or symptoms change or get worse, please contact the NHS as you would normally.

We have been made aware of an increase in scam callers pretending to be from the NHS Coronavirus Vaccination Service. These scammers are attempting to obtain personal information and financial details from patients.

If you receive a call from someone who claims to be from the NHS Vaccination Service, your GP Practice or the Government, and are asking for personal information or financial details such as bank account information or credit card details, do not provide the information.

Legitimate callers will never ask for this information over the phone.

Please be aware when answering automated calls where you are asked to select an option - this can leave you at risk of connecting to a high-cost premium number, leaving you liable for a significant call cost.

Furthermore, there has been an increase in scam texts, where victims are asked to click a link that sends them to a fake NHS website where they are asked for personal details.

Phishing emails can also be very convincing at first glance, but by checking the sender, you can see where they have come from. Do not click any links in these emails, which take you to a website that encourages you to enter personal details.

For more information, please visit: https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-telecoms-and-internet/advice-for-consumers/scams/coronavirus-scam-calls-and-texts#vaccine-scams

Always use caution and if you are unsure, call the service back on their published contact numbers to confirm… and remember, the NHS will NEVER ask for financial information.
