Many mums experience the baby blues in the early days after giving birth. This is completely normal, and is partly due to hormonal changes in the body.

Looking after a whole new person can be overwhelming - so it's completely normal to need time to adjust.

But if these feelings don't pass in a few days, or you're worried about your mental health, please reach out for support. This could be your health visitor, midwife, or GP.

If the thought of talking to a professional feels like too much, you may find it helpful to talk to someone close to you. They may be able to help you reach out and get the support you need.

Here are some places to find support and information - please feel free to tag any we've missed.

Pandas Foundation (Pre And PostNatal Depression Advice and Support)
Association for Post Natal Illness
Action on Postpartum Psychosis (APP)

Repost from

Do you know about glimmers? 😍✨💫 These micro-moments of joy give your whole day a boost when you start to notice them! A nice way to think of them is that they are the opposite of triggers, they are super small things that can give you that glimmer of calm, happiness, connection, that once you focus on them make everything feel better.

They could be as small as having a lovely cup of coffee, noticing some flowers on your walk home, realising you don’t have to cook dinner (just me?! 😜) or really any micro-moment that makes you feel a small positive rush.

Here is a lovely little explanation for you to save or share to help you look for yours. 💗

As this week is Mental Health Awareness Week we’ve teamed up with the pre and postnatal mental health charity to create a Personalised Glimmers Journal. £5 from the sale of every book will go to supporting the fantastic work that do AND because we are doing this as part of the Big Give, that money will be doubled! ☺️

You have until 28th May to support! You can find the link to the limited edition journal and support this amazing campaign via the link in our bio! 😍 Anyone else a fan of glimmers? Will you now start to look for them?!

Home births increasing 😁🩷

Following the success of winning Warrington Guardian's Health Hero award 2024, here are the stats for our home birth service

There were 34 babies born, under Team Lunar, & its great to see our home birth rates increasing. Along with fantastic breast feeding initiation rates❤️.

If anyone would like any information about birthing at home, please speak to your midwife ❤️

“I felt I had a relatively easy ride with my mental health when I had tiny human #1 - I was probably one of those very annoying mums in baby groups who looked pretty relaxed and like they were enjoying it most of the time (before you hate me, read on).

At my 6-week postnatal check-up for tiny human #2, I remember asking various anxious questions about his health, then thanking the doctor and getting ready to slope out of the room - just as I was leaving, she said ‘are you ok? You don’t quite seem like your usual perky self’. And tears started absolutely cascading down my cheeks.

Because I wasn’t ok. I’d found being pregnant during the pandemic totally s**t, I’d had some difficult news from a friend that I wasn’t processing well, and I was holding it all and panicking about my tiny human’s health in a way I recognised wasn’t normal.

And that’s when the doctor’s attention moved straight away from my tiny human to me. She kept reassuring me he was happy and fine. She referred me for counselling, but a few weeks later rang to told me the service was full. The kindness in her follow up was genuine - she was trying to work out a next plan of action for me getting some help.

But by that point I was doing much better because her question had been the stepping stone to me telling my family that I was feeling s**tty and trying to explain why. And slowly - through finding a community on here, though talking things through with my friends and family, doing a singing group aimed at helping new mums with their MH ( 🙏💜) & focussing on trying not to beat myself up about it being a different experience the second time around - I started to feel more like me.

And the reason I’m telling you this is because everyone’s postnatal MH story is different: I don’t even know what label mine had (if any) but I know that I didn’t feel like myself. I also know that with support it can and it does get better 💜

You are not alone, there’s great support here 🩷
