Embracing the Privilege of Nurturing Young Dancers

For over two decades, I've had the immense honour of teaching children to dance. As I often say, "to be involved in the arts is a privilege." It's a responsibility that I hold close to my heart, recognising the trust parents place in us for their children's education and well-being. I'm deeply aware of the profound impact that my own dance teachers had on my life, as dancing was something I wholeheartedly loved.
Our 'First Steps' program has been meticulously designed to offer children aged 3-7 years a delightful and informal introduction to the enchanting world of dance, music, and performance.
Research tells us that creating new synapses in the brain typically demands around 400 repetitions. However, when learning happens through play, this figure dwindles to a mere 10 to 20 repetitions. Thus, our primary focus in the 'First Steps' program is to instil the demanding art of dance through the sheer joy of play.
When parents bring their little ones to their introductory class, I always stress the significance of their child's enjoyment during their dance journey. This enjoyment is not just about having fun but also contributes significantly to their well-being, confidence, and, eventually, their progress.
I often liken this experience to a wheel. When a child genuinely enjoys what they're doing, they'll naturally practice outside of the studio. With practice comes improvement, and as they see themselves getting better, their confidence soars. Consequently, their enjoyment increases, creating a beautiful, self-reinforcing cycle.
Play is the cornerstone of teaching children, and it's at the core of all our 'First Steps' classes. By incorporating toys, musical instruments, props, books, and artwork, we breathe life into the world of dance for our youngest students. Our approach is underpinned by a deep understanding of their emotional well-being and physical development, helping lay a robust foundation for each child's upward journey in the world of dance.
In essence, 'First Steps' is not just about teaching dance; it's about fostering a love for the art, building confidence, and nurturing young minds through the magic of play. 🎶🎨💃🎉

Following its wildly successful launch, and due to popular demand, we are now expanding our Theatre Arts Associates Programme. We are very excited to be able to develop this course in order to further reflect our full-time Theatre Arts vocational training. The focus will remain on acting, acting through song, improvisation, devising, ensemble singing and movement for actors.

Auditions will be held at regular intervals throughout the next year for prospective students to join our current Theatre Arts Associates cohort.

West Side Story 😊🎭👏

Westside story is a musical adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

The story set in the mid-1950s in the upper West side of Manhattan in New York City and explores the rivalry between two teenage gangs of different ethnic backgrounds the Jets and the Sharks.

The musical shows how racism and xenophobia create a system that dooms the youths of working-class families.

This story does not offer audiences a happy ending, just like Romeo and Juliet.
