The Vampire Facial differs from the Vampire Facelift®, in that the PRP is applied topically while the face is being mechanically perforated using a MTS™-Roller or the Dermapen device. This allows for immediate transdermal absorption of the PRP. Clinical studies have shown that treatment with a micro-needling device is consistent in increasing the thickness of the skin.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy works on the basis that the body’s own natural healing powers may slow and even reverse the ageing process – it’s a revolutionary repair system that places growth factors in the exact location where we want the skin to repair and rejuvenate itself.

Platelets contain a high content of “growth factors” – proteins that help to heal injured tissue or damaged skin. Upon re-injection the platelets release their growth factors which trigger surrounding cells to proliferate, in turn stimulating repair, increasing volume and rejuvenating the skin.

MTS™ Roller therapy and the Dermapen are skin rejuvenating processes that uses a medical micro-needling device; and are only performed by a qualified and trained medical professional. Medical micro-needling therapy triggers angiogenesis and collagenesis by communicating directly with your skin stem cells.

Benefits

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is an extract of your own blood that contains three to five times more platelets, growth factors, and active proteins for tissue and injury healing. It has been used medically for years to accelerate wound healing; repair tendon, ligament and joint damage; heal diabetic ulcers; and help regrow muscle and bone. When PRP is placed back into the skin by injection or micro-needling, it initiates a localized inflammatory response. Over the weeks and months following treatment, this inflammatory response recruits collagen-producing cells called fibroblasts. The fibroblasts replace tissue that has been damaged or lost through the aging process with healthy skin that looks refreshed and rejuvenated.

Treatment

A numbing cream (lidocaine, bupivacaine, and tetracaine) is applied to the face (and if indicated, the neck). Approximately 20 cc (less than 2 tablespoons) of blood are drawn in the same way blood samples are taken for routine lab tests. The tubes of blood are centrifuged to separate the component cells. Platelets are separated and used for this procedure.

Procedure

Once the treatment area is numbed, the medical professional will apply the PRP and roll the medical micro-needling device over the treatment area. This produces thousands of micro-needle punctures in your skin. Different needle lengths are used depending on the thickness of your skin and condition being treated. Therefore, each puncture will pe*****te the surface of the skin to depths ranging from 0.5mm to 2.5mm.
