Meet Lee, our newly appointed Lead facilitator here at Andy's Man Club Warrington North. I remember Lee walking through those doors, not knowing what happened, why he should be here and us having to repeat the questions because by the time the ball got to him, he couldn’t remember the question. Within a matter of weeks the progress was phenomenal and we were delighted to offer him the chance to become facilitator. To see Lee now, using so much of his own time outside of AMC to better himself with the purpose of helping others is remarkable, proud of you mate! This is Lee’s journey in his own words:
On Monday 16th October 2023 I died twice and for a total of 29 minutes (8 minutes and 21 minutes downtime) due to a non fatal su***de attempt.
But due to some miracle and the incredible staff at Warrington Resus Department, I somehow survived despite the incredible odds against me. I was in Urgent Care, ICU for 16 days in total where I suffered and survived from 2 heart attacks, 2 seizures and brain damage. As well as this, I was also in an induced coma and undergoing kidney dialysis.
Due to the brain damage, my memory was severely impaired, and I have absolutely no recollection of the dark place I was in prior to the traumatic event. I have had to learn the basics like walking, eating, drinking and cuddling family and loved ones, including more importantly my incredible daughter, Mya.
This left me with a lot of unanswered questions and frustrations as I couldn't remember what had happened or the majority of my life beforehand. I couldn't remember why or how I was still here, but I was eternally grateful that I had been given a second chance.
I started to use AMC as a way of talking about what happened to me, how I was feeling, to understand and come to terms with the dynamics of mental health and how it does effect 1 in 6 of us all.
There aren’t words available to me at the moment to describe how AMC has helped me on my journey, although I have been under the incredible care of Warrington Hospital, Crisis Management Team, Outreach support, Advice and Guidance counsellors, GP and even my dentist! Plus the additional support and incredible
love from family and friends.
Andys Man Club has been by far the best thing I have ever done and as such I want to pay back some of what I've gained from them.
All su***de is preventable, and the stigma surrounding it needs to be addressed.
Su***de is the biggest killer for men under 50
1 man every 2 hours attempts to take his own life in the UK.
Thank you for everything 👌

What a brilliant turnout at yesterday’s Well-being Walk!
We were joined by members of the public and a wide range of local well-being services, all walking side by side to support each other during Mental Health Week 2025.
This year’s theme is ‘Community’ - and our wellbeing walk was a powerful reminder of just how much we can achieve when we come together. Whether it was through a smile, a chat, or simply walking alongside someone, every step taken helped strengthen the sense of belonging and support that good mental health depends on.
Thank you again to everyone who came along and helped make the day so special. Let’s keep building a community where it’s always okay to talk, to reach out, and to walk together.
