Whether it is our life, people around us or our own self, for most of us our happiness depends upon the fulfilment of our expectations.

It is hard to limit our expectations because that’s how we have always learnt to live. In exchange of what we give out to others, we want our expectations to be fulfilled.

When we set expectations, we set a boundary for our happiness. Unless these expectations are met, we remain dissatisfied in life. Life may bring some opportunities, people may do things for you or you may achieve something, but if we don’t see beyond our expectations, we see no reason to be happy in life.

Accept life as it comes to you, appreciate people for even the little they do and embrace yourself however imperfect you may feel. By lowering your expectations, adding more appreciation, you will expand your happiness.

How can we turn the toughest time into inspiration?

The most challenging times in life bring out our greatest strength. Once we explore our inner power, we don't fear any challenges in life because we know we can overcome them.

The time we face the hardest fall of life is also the time of self-exploration. A hard fall can make us feel so weak that we don't see ourselves rising again. Even during this hopeless time, something encouraging within makes us gather all our strength and stand up again. Once we stand and realise our inner strength, every time we face adversity, we look back at our stronger selves and know we can get through it.

Don't give up even if you face the toughest situation in life. Rise from it; you feel so accomplished that you will inspire yourself for your lifetime.
