Moore and Daresbury Women's Institute meets on the first Thursday of each month at 7.30pm in the Milner Institute, Moore. Come and join us!

This month we meet on Thursday 9th January 7 :30pm at The Milner, Moss Lane, Moore, WA46TZ, then we are back to our regular first Thursday of the month. Come along and visit us, you will be made very welcome.

This month our WI Crafters had fun being imaginative and making cards to send to our mp, supporting the WI resolution, to let him know how important dental health is to our members and the WI. Some crazy hair going on 🤣

“Arctic Research” with Terry Callaghan - come along and find out more - Thursday 1st August, 7:30pm at The Milner, Moss Lane, Moore, WA46TZ - visitors very welcome
Terry has done research in every Arctic country, with over 460 scientific publications, he is a “World-leading Researcher”

We welcome Kirstie Atherton to our next meeting. She is a warm and encouraging celebrant who writes and speaks from a place of truth and connection. She shouts out about love by listening to who you are and using her creativity to craft ceremonies that reflect the uniqueness of you. Visitors are very welcome.

“Development in the Chemical Industry in Runcorn & Widnes & the Catalyst Science Discovery Centre” with Dr Diana Leitch who is Runcorn-born and an internationally distinguished scientist who has been awarded an MBE for her contribution to the field of chemistry – come along and find out more.

Jake Evans, a storyteller, is our speaker - even in this age of tweets and streaming, we connect strongest through stories.
They are everywhere, we all have them. Everyone loves a good one – so do come and visit us to hear more . . .

Christmas craft with our monthly crafters this week, a "crazy hat" wooden snowman and a teabag folded greetings card.

The craft group has made some lovely Autumnal table decorations to adorn our hall for this weeks meeting.

This months 1950s style meeting.
The evening was run by President Mrs Harkins and delivered in the manner of the 1950s, refering to items from the Moore & Daresbury WI archives. Mrs Lancaster talked about the way in which 2 friends spoke to one another when communicating by post, in the 1600s and Mrs Wright ran a picture quiz ,photos of celebrities in the 1950s.
We were served Tea with buttered scones and homemade jam.

We welcome Jason Ellis, the Choir Master of Runcorn Community Choir, who will be sharing his expertise about singing and correct breathing techniques, before leading us all in a singing session, which promises to be good fun.
