For our national research project, the research team at Leeds Metropolitan University need to film U-9 rugby players performing in a traditional and modified game from the Warrington / St Helen’s area. The same study is currently taking place in Leeds and Hull.

A very busy day with the Birchwood High School year 10 sports students. During a lab session, students explored some of the equipment used within the health and fitness industry and the reasons behind using such equipment. Areas of analysis focused on body composition, muscular strength and flexibility.
The aim of the conference is to provide an opportunity for year three students to provide a ‘legacy of learning’, via an examination of academic theory and empirical evidence underpinning a contemporary sporting issue. The conference offered a series of workshops examining a range of contemporary issues across three broad themes: Sport Development, Sport Coaching and Physical Activity and Health.

The England Rugby League Academy Coach and former 1st Grade Assistant Coach/Player Performance Manager at Warrington Wolves talks to our 3rd Year Sports Coaching Students.
The 60 minute session offered students an insight into Daves personal experiences with regards to becoming involved in sport, his philosophy on coaching and his personal beliefs about good professional practice. A very interesting and well recieved session that invited students to ask questions relevent to their module, helping to develop a better understanding of the social and educational concepts of Sports Coaching.
