Behind the scenes of a recent gym photoshoot. A real mental and physical challenge for everyone who took part. Also interesting to see what is involved in getting and staying lean.

Yes you can maintain a good physique to a point but the last few days of my prep involved dehydrating and calorie cutting. All done as safely as it could have been thanks to Mike Ward Personal Training & Strength & Performance guidance but it shows that the ‘competition look’ requires hard work and some unhealthy behaviours.

An interesting experience but perhaps not what I’d consider a healthy lifestyle. My aim now is to keep some of the gains I’ve made by following a healthy meal plan and training hard- no more cutting and water depleting!

I’m glad I did it, I’m glad I pushed myself as hard as I did, but I’m also glad I can now relax a bit.

Well done to all of the others that took part- not everyone is going to like it or be supportive, and there will be some negative words thrown our way, but we’ve all worked hard and have our own reasons for getting involved.

Hello everyone. I just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you all.

My name is Becky Adam. I am a qualified Sports Therapist and Sport Psychology Advisor and am so excited to announce that I will be offering appointments from Mike's gym in the New Year.

Sports therapy can include massage, posture correction work, treating specific injuries, releasing tense muscles, kinesiology taping plus many other techniques to help you to perform at your best. I can also offer help and support on the mental side of training, including motivation and frustration often associated with injuries.

My clinic will initially be running every Wednesday and there will be a booking form and full price list released soon.

However, as a way of introducing myself, I am going to be offering free 10 minute taster appointments on Wednsesday 31st January for all members. I will post up a sign up sheet in the new year.

I'm really excited to be working with Mike and meeting you all. Mike has been coaching me online for a few months now so I share your enthusiasm for him as a coach.

Finally, 3 things about me, so you can get to know me little better...

1. I am a massive Warrington Wolves fan and follow them home and away (don't judge me!).

2. I have signed up to take part in Europe's Toughest Mudder in June (yes I am mad!!!).

3. I am a recently diagnosed coeliac so have to follow a gluten free diet!

So 6 weeks ago I was given this fantastic opportunity to change the way I was looking and feeling, I am 34 years old and I work as a General manager in a restaurant working long shifts and most evenings but I have managed to fit in my training and stick to my meal plan with the help of mike ward and Adam shaw, it has been the best thing I have ever done. IT’S BEEN A BLAST!!! 😊😊💪🏼💪🏼

So this week a decision has been made. A tough decision. Which stems from an opportunity to help more people.

From August I will no longer be Personal Training 😢😢😢

This has not been an easy decision and one all my clients understand. I will be taking up a full time role with Wigan Warriors Rugby League Education, helping more and more adults gain Health, Fitness and Sport qualifications 😊 A prospect of helping others gain qualifications that will help them on the Health and Fitness ladder is an exciting opportunity.

I will always be available to offer any training or nutrition help to any of my followers and I will also have a very limited number of ‘online coaching’ spots available.

I’d like to thank everyone that has been involved in my PT Journey. The last 10+ years 😬 has been awesome. Gaining some amazing friends, learning a hell of a lot about myself and others and working with some amazing coaches. It has all helped me gain experiences and knowledge to now pass onto others.

Wigan Warriors Academy have ‘fully funded’ places on the Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Strength and Conditioning

The Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Strength and Conditioning focuses on the skills and competencies required to be able to plan, deliver and evaluate a series of linked and progressive strength and conditioning coaching sessions, preparing the learner for potential employment as a strength and conditioning coach.

Course running between Sunday 8th November and Sunday 29th November 2020

Wigan Warriors Academy have ‘fully funded’ places on the Level 2 Certificate In Fitness Instructing (Gym-Based Exercise).

Become a qualified Gym Instructor. The aim of this qualification is to train learners to a professionally competent level, enabling them to prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective exercise sessions within a gym or health club environment.

What you will do on the course: Complete your training in a high performance training facility. A mix of practical and theory based sessions. Complete a course portfolio and two theory assessments. Plan a series of practical gym based sessions, Deliver a series of practical gym based sessions.
Course running between Sunday 8th November and Sunday 6th December 2020

Must be 19+ years old
Must not already be on a Government funded course
Must already have a minimum Level 2 in any subject/qualification

As you may have seen already. We have the green light to reopen the studio from Saturday 25th July, I will be in full operation from Thursday 30th July!

We have implemented social distancing measures based on government guidelines to ensure the studio environment is safe for you and ourselves.

These include:

- All 1 hour sessions will become 50 minutes. This is to ensure a smooth change over between clients and time for personal trainers to clean the floors, equipment etc.
- Please don’t arrive early for your session time slot to prevent overlap of clients in the building.
- We will be offering Hand Sanitiser Gel upon arrival, during your sessions and after your workout.
- 1+ Metre social distancing measures will be in place
- The shower will NOT be in use until further notice.
- Please bring your own bottled water, as the kitchen won’t be in use at this time.
- Hand Sanitiser Gel in the toilet will replace hand wash so you won't have to touch the taps or use the hand towels.

I will only be working on a Thursday for the first few weeks as I have people close who are still high risk. But will have slots available from 7.00am throughout the day last slot being 6.00pm. This is on a first come first served basis.

Helping people achieve a good overall healthy balance. I am an exercise specialist & nutritionist working with people from all walks of life. Helping people on a small group or one to one basis and even via online training.

A qualified Tutor and Assessor in Fitness Education. Through this I work with apprentices all over the North West and Yorkshire, helping them to achieve their Level 2 and 3 Personal Training qualifications. I share my knowledge and expertise that I have built up over many years to help them become the next generation of leading coaches.

I really enjoy working with people, sharing my passion, knowledge and experience. Seeing how I help others and watching people change their lifestyles for the better is the whole reason that I am part of the Health & Fitness Industry.
