Trigger Point Techniques

🔹Technique I: local compression of a trigger point
🔹Technique II: local manual stretching along the taut band where multiple trigger points are located, as well as adjacent parts of the taut band.
(e.g Technique I and II of the gastrocnemius muscle👇)
Fascia Release Techniques

🔸Technique III: broad manual release of the connective tissue and fascia around the trigger point (e.g.of the latissimus dorsi muscle👇)
🔸Technique IV: manual release of the connective tissue and fascia between two muscles (intramuscular mobilization) (e.g. of the biceps femoris muscle👇)

A Trigger Point (TrP) is a ''HYPERIRRITABLE'' spot, a palpable nodule in the taut bands of the skeletal muscles' fascia. Direct compression or muscle contraction can elicit jump sign, local tenderness, local twitch response and referred pain which usually responds with a pain pattern distant from the spot.

💥💥Causes - Usually, TrPs happen due to:💥💥

⚡️Injury sustained by a fall, by stress or birth trauma.
⚡️Lack of exercise - commonly in sedentary persons between 27,5-55 years, of which 45% are men,
⚡️Bad posture - upper and lower crossed pattern, swayback posture, telephone posture, cross-legged sitting,
⚡️Muscle overuse and respective micro trauma - weightlifting,
⚡️Chronic stress condition - anxiety, depression, psychological stress trauma,
⚡️Vitamin deficiencies - vitamin C, D, B; folic acid; iron;
⚡️Sleep disturbance,
⚡️Joint problems and hypermobility.

🧠🧠🧠Muscles of three types you’ll find
Skeletal, smooth, and the cardiac kind
Skeletal muscles come in pairs
With the bones you’ll find them there

Workin’ together to make you strong
One gets short while the other long
Like your arm when muscles flex
Biceps short and long triceps

Your heart is a muscle too
Skeletal type working like a smooth
A specialized muscle called the cardiac
But your skeletal muscles go right up your back

Voluntary muscles all
Striated, the skeletal
Tendons at the bones connect
With the joints so they can flex

Involuntary are the kind
That move with no choice from your mind
Like your stomach with muscles smooth
And in the walls of blood vessels too🧠🧠🧠
