A GP receptionist plays a crucial role in the primary care team, serving as the first point of contact for patients. Some of their day-to-day responsibilities include:
• Welcoming Patients: Greeting individuals as they arrive and making them feel comfortable.
• Managing Appointments: Scheduling and confirming appointments, as well as handling cancellations and rescheduling.
• Handling Queries: Answering phone calls and responding to patient inquiries about services and procedures.
• Data Management: Updating patient records and ensuring that all information is accurately entered into the system.
• Collaboration: Working closely with GPs and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth operations.
Reception staff are trained to ask certain questions to ensure that you receive appropriate medical care, from the most appropriate health professional, at the most suitable time.

As the colder months approach, it's important for elderly citizens to stay warm and comfortable at home. Here are some helpful tips:
1. Check Your Heating System: Ensure your heating system is working efficiently. Consider servicing it for optimal performance.
2. Use Programmable Thermostats: Set your heating to come on when you need it, and lower the temperature at night to save energy.
3. Keep Doors and Windows Closed: Prevent drafts by sealing gaps around windows and doors.
4. Dress Warmly: Layering clothes can help you stay warm without relying solely on heating.
5. Consider Energy Efficiency Grants: Check for available grants or financial support to improve your home’s insulation.

Cold symptoms, like a runny nose, sore throat, and headaches, tend to come on gradually and affect both adults and children. For relief, try decongestants, paracetamol, or ibuprofen—but be cautious about correct doses.
For advice on the best remedies, visit your local pharmacy. A pharmacist can recommend the right treatments to help you feel better.
