ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY: Today, March 7, marks the 177th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the chiropractic profession. Daniel David Palmer was born in 1845 in Port Perry, Ontario, Canada but emigrated to the United States, settling in Davenport, Iowa, where he developed his theories of healing, nervous system disturbance and vertebral subluxation.
In September 1895, DD Palmer famously manipulated the spine of Harvey Lillard, a janitor working in the building where he rented rooms. This first reported spinal adjustment led to Mr Lillard describing an improvement in his hearing. In 1897, DD Palmer founded the Palmer College of Chiropractic. He established further schools in California, Oregon and Oklahoma.
Today, we respectfully mark the birthday of the Discoverer of Chiropractic and acknowledge the global impact of his life and work.
