**Zoom ** - Just a quick reminder. If you join the meeting on an ipad, you won't be able to join in with the lesson interactively. As most of the lesson is deliberately interactive to make it fun, that makes for a rather frustrating lesson for you. :( Please use a laptop or desktop computer to ensure you have the most fun during your time!

Still applies! Amazing how many 'tutor's have come out of the woodwork these last 12 months. Please vet your prospective tutor. A fancy website is all very well and good, but check out actual reviews from real customers. #keepsafe

Who doesn't love a review? ๐Ÿค—

If you currently have a child I am teaching, please would you take 5 minutes to write a review to let prospective new parents know how your child is enjoying things and progressing.

I have a lot of long term pupils, which is amazing ๐Ÿ’› However, it does mean I don't get regular reviews
as it's only when a pupil finishes with me.

Limited spaces now available. Let me help your child enjoy their maths ๐Ÿ†

So my home tutoring space is finally ready :) After a year of teaching online via Zoom (which is brilliant and at the same high standard), I will now be ready to offer the option of face to face lessons at my home in a Covid secure teaching room. The desk area will be sanitised in-between pupils in addition to all pens/pencils/resources etc.

Zoom lessons are fantastic and I shall continue these for pupils who prefer this - so many benefits. No need to leave home and working from a familiar space with their own home comforts.

Face to face lessons for those pupils who may need additional help with hands on resources (Base 10's, number lines etc) or just any pupil who wants to physically see me ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Lesson times and days will remain the same. If you are planning to come for a face to face lesson at your time slot, please just let me know. These will commence from the 12th April in line with government guidelines.

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŽ“About me ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŽ“
๐ŸŽฒ I am a specialist in Primary Education (PGCE 1st from Manchester University 2011 and QTS)
๐ŸŽฒ I have been Ofsted recognised as 'Outstanding'
๐ŸŽฒ This is my only job not a hobby (and yes, I am fully tax registered, hold a DBS and have public liability insurance)
๐ŸŽฒ I'm providing the same high standard of tuition on Zoom - no different to me being in the room with your child.
๐ŸŽฒ I've been teaching for nearly 10 years, and this is my 6th year as a self employed maths specialist.

I'm afraid I am fully booked until May 2021 but always worth getting in touch now to join my waiting list if you're looking for a tutor in the future. #professionaltutor #notanagency #trusttheprocess

โญ Happy 6 years to me today! When you do something you love, it doesn't feel like work and my fabulous work kids make it so worthwhile. I have loved making a difference with over 50 children over the last 6 years (3 of whom have been with me from the start and they've grown up in front of my eyes!) Thank you to all my amazing work pupils and parents for all your support and kind words. Here's to the next 6 years! โญ

โญ A little introduction to the newest member of our household - little Ottilie who is now 16 weeks old. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ She's making regular trips to see how all of my pupils are getting on. She 'may' have even knocked a few of you out of my Zoom classes ๐Ÿ˜… She's on half term the week of the 15th, along with myself. Don't worry, you will all receive your 'missing' lesson in March or April so no need to adjust your normal payments. Let's keep Zooming and keep learning - you are all doing amazingly well and I'm very proud of you all. โญ

[08/09/20]   โ˜กCOVID 19 UPDATE โ˜ก

โ›” Face- to- face lessons are still on hold.

๐ŸŒ I am still teaching online via Zoom to keep everyone safe (including my own family). Zoom is used as PowerPoints can be shared and pupils can annotate on the screen exactly the way they would on a whiteboard in a face to face lesson :)

๐Ÿ’ป Lessons are in exactly the same format (maths warm up, subject input, pupil work , plenary) and to exactly the same high standard. There is no loss of learning using this method and pupils are still making the same tangible progress ๐Ÿ˜Š Indeed, some pupils are choosing to keep this method long term as there is less distraction from siblings during their lessons!

๐ŸšฆIt is likely a return to home visiting will take place in a gradual, phased manner in order to minimise the risk further. I am currently working with multiple families, all of whom have at least 4 members in the household.

โ–ถ Phased return will be looked at in September with priority given to my youngest Year 1 pupils initially (obviously depending on the situation being stable)

๐Ÿ’ณ Payments remain at the lower 2019/2020 prices (new prices were due to be implemented in April 2020) but the rise to ยฃ130 will be implemented once normal home lessons are fully back in place. Those parents paying for siblings/two weekly lessons will stay on the old price as a discount. Advance notice will be given. Please can new parents ensure standing orders are put in place for the 1st of each month to minimise chasing โœ…

Any questions, concerns or suggestions, please drop me a message or speak to me at the end of your child's next lesson.

Stay safe โš…

20/07/2020

**IMPORTANT** Lesson times will be changing once schools break up. If I haven't already spoken to you to confirm your child's place/time, please let me know. These are temporary times again until September when times/days will go back to normal :) Thank you all for your patience during these last 4 months. Every child will be receiving a Lockdown Maths Medal in recognition of their hardwork which I shall bring with me to their first face to face lesson in September. Nearly there!

[07/13/20]   Please can any outstanding payments be made before Friday this week. Many thanks. ๐Ÿคญ

Our Story

Rachel Hodgson B.A. Hons 2.1 Nottingham University (1995) PGCE (1st) Manchester University (2010) QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) for KS1/KS2/KS3 in Maths, English and Science.

Fully qualified teacher with professional experience as a Year 4 Class Teacher, Year 2 Class Teacher and Year 6 Class Teacher; other experience includes various short/long term supply positions in schools across Warrington and Runcorn. I have been rated โ€œOutstandingโ€ by Ofsted when observed. My business is fully registered and I hold professional indemnity insurance and public liability insurance.

Lessons are 45-50 minutes and priced at ยฃ130 per calendar month (2020) This is a weekly lesson and includes travel to your home, full lesson preparation and feedback/assessment. All educational resources are also provided including workbooks and past papers where appropriate. Help with revision timetables is also included. Pupils just need to come prepared with a pencil, whiteboard pen, ruler and a rubber. Lessons are weekly and payment is monthly in advance via standing order or cash. Payment secures your place for the academic year. Lessons break through October half term, a week at Christmas and two other unpaid weeks of the year (to be advised in advance) but these weeks are not paid for by the pupils. Lessons missed due to illness/holidays by the pupil however are costed as normal, however where possible an alternative time will be arranged.

One-off assessment lessons are available for ยฃ40. Please message me for information.
Please do get in touch now if you have a child in Year 5 currently, as I have limited availability for this year. Ideally, lessons for Year 6 are best to start in the summer term of Year 5 in order that appropriate assessment can be made and the full curriculum of maths delivered before May next year.

**PARENTS**

Not sure your child needs a weekly lesson but still needs some support? One off lessons at ยฃ30 are also available during the day for parents who want to learn how to support their childโ€™s learning at school. Essentially, I will tutor you in Maths in order for you to help your child during Year 6.

Please do drop me a line though if you would like to discuss future requirements or simply have a question. Look forward to hearing from you :)
