Priestley College

Tickets are available for a night of music at Priestley College. Our BTEC students are presenting Tribute Bowie, Abba, Paramore and Britpop from the 90s. You can book here >

Reminder for all those interested.
At 3PM today in P1.16, the College Council will be holding elections for first year students. All students will need to prepare a short speech on why they should receive a place on the Council.

From everyone here on the College Council we hope you had a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year. We hope you’re all ready for mock exam week which begins on Friday 12th January - Friday 19th January. Reminder to all students that you will have none of your scheduled lessons for that period (BTEC courses may require attendance still). Remember that all teachers here at Priestley College are willing to help you if you have any queries about work so don’t be afraid to email them or submit extra work, EXOP is also back on in the LRC after 4PM.

We understand that this period can be very stressful for a lot of students including ourselves and it is important you find the correct balance between college work and free time. If at any period you begin to feel overwhelmed by everything and need someone to talk to, your form tutors operate an open door policy and we’re certain any of your subject tutors would be more than happy to walk you through any work you’re unsure about.

With Christmas fast approaching some students may be strapped for cash or unsure of what to get a friend or family member (or maybe you just fancy treating yourself!)

From 9AM Friday 15th December - 4PM Tuesday 19th December, the College Council will be holding a raffle. Anyone wishing to enter must pay £1 a go and guess how long it took College Council President (Ewan Soehren) to do a 'Santa Skip' around the college. The winner of the raffle is the person that guesses the closest time. The winner will recieve a brand new camera. Members of the council will be situated outside of Student Services on their free's with a form and donation bucket, so don't be a stranger. The proceeds of this event will be split between the PETT Fund, and 2 charities of the Council's choice. These are Warrington Open Door At Christmas and Warrington FoodBank.

On a similar note, the college will be running a raffle for £0.50 a go with the prize of an Amazon Kindle. No guessing work required. All proceeds go to the PETT Fund. To purchase a ticket go to the stand outside Student Services and provide your personal details.

Both winners will be contacted before the Christmas break.

At 3PM today (Friday 1st December) students from Priestley College will be doing a fun run (2.1km - can be walked/crawled or ran)at victoria park.
If you decide you want to participate you will be signed out of your respective lessons, all you need to do is speak to them and double check this is ok (no tests, coursework or poor attendance to interfere).
There will be 4 Priestley buses leaving the college at 2:40PM so, we advise getting there just before to ensure you get a seat and don’t miss the buses.
There will be music being played at the running track by our music students.
Should you wish to run there are sponsorship forms available at the Crescent building reception and we hope that students will try to raise £21 each in the name of River Reeves who would have turned 21 this December. However, the main aim of the event is to bring the college together for a bit of fun,so if you can’t raise £21 just raise as much as you can, ask your teachers or friends to sponsor you but most of all have FUN!
If you don’t fancy doing the run but still want to be involved, go and speak to Nigel in the sports building to see if he still needs any help with setting the event up (people to give out water etc). All help is appreciated!
The event is in aid of the River Reeves Foundation (set up to help up and coming musicians following the death of the band Viola Beach) and the colleges own PETT trust that the proceeds will be split between.

Second year students - currently on college computer desktops, there is a window where YOU have a chance to have YOUR say in this year’s valedictory.
- Select your preference - formal or informal.
- Leave a suggestion on what would make this year’s valedictory the best!

Tonight at 5:30PM-8:00PM is the last open event of the year and a chance for first AND second year students to get involved with college events.
Want to know how to get involved?
- Speak to your subject tutors and see if they still need help with their course tonight.
