The new study found irregular sleep – going to bed and waking up at different times each day – was “strongly associated” with a higher risk of major adverse cardiovascular events. Even getting eight hours of sleep was insufficient to offset the harmful effects of consistently varying bed and wake-up times, experts said.

Sadly it’s uncommon for the NHS (GP’s & fertility consultants), to run a full thyroid panel including antibodies for women, often it’s just TSH & Free T4.

This is why we stress all women have a full thyroid panel including antibodies, if they have experienced pregnancy loss. recurring implantation failure, or are struggling to conceive.

If your having problems conceiving I highly recommend booking in for an initial fertility assessment with me so we can do a full blood review.

For women with high oestrogen levels & low progesterone levels, we may see higher-than-optimal levels of histamine in the body.

This is because progesterone supports the production & release of diamine oxidase (OAD) - an enzyme that helps to break down excess histamine.

If there’s insufficient levels of OAD Ito break down excess histamine, levels stay high, leading to skin rashes, itchy skin, hives.

Supporting root causes:

Gut health
Inflammation
Liver detoxification
Stress
Unprocessed emotions, trauma.

Following an anti-inflammatory & anti-histamine diet (low in sugar, processed foods, keeping a diary of any nightshades that may trigger a histamine response.

Supporting oestrogen detoxification through the bowels, by eating a diet rich in plant foods to ensure your getting enough fibre, minerals & antioxidants required for liver detoxification.

Consuming foods rich in vitamin C to support progesterone levels, and supplementation..

Having regular fertility reflexology to support natural ovulation.

As we naturally fast overnight our bodies deplete themselves of glycogen, the stored form of glucose which is our body’s main source of energy. and as such - ghrelin is released, our “hunger hormone”

If we don’t refill our glycogen stores when we wake, ignoring what are bodies needs, we put ourselves into fight or flight mode.

Skipping breakfast also delays our normal cortisol patterns, whereas eating breakfast gives our cortisol levels a little boost and supplies us with stable energy throughout the day.

Our cortisol levels naturally begin to rise in the morning & will continue to rise until mid-afternoon, when it begins to decline.

But if we skip breakfast it delays our cortisol pattern, leading to increased cortisol in the afternoon which impacts our circadian rhythm & sleep.

Impacting the production and metabolism of oestrogen, inhibit the release of Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) which is responsible for causing the pituitary gland in the brain to make and secrete the hormones luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and suppresses thyroid function.

Disruption of thyroid function has been linked to reproductive dysfunction in women and is associated with menstrual irregularity, infertility, poor pregnancy outcomes, and gynecological conditions such as premature ovarian insufficiency and PCOS.

So supporting your natural cortisol pattern is instrumental 🫐🍓🌰

“This study challenges the conventional belief that only the higher antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) titers directly correlated with worse pregnancy outcomes, which emphasized the importance of patients with low titer positive aPL-positive RM.”

• “The results underscore the need for timely intervention in women with low titer aPL-positive RM, as it leads to favorable maternal–fetal outcomes.”

I’m going thyroid crazy this week as I’m seeing too many women in clinic being overlooked by the medical profession.

Thyroid function is of paramount importance in fertility and adequate screening and treatment (whether holistically or through allopathic medicine or both) can improve conception and delivery rates apart from overall health.

Thyroid hormones are vital for the production of both estradiol and progesterone lack of which may cause infertility.

Ladies you need to keep in mind that EVEN if your TSH is normal, it is still important to assess the conversion of T4 into the active form T3.

So having a full thyroid panel including antibodies will help to assess your thyroid properly.

We see this area being overlooked so many times with clients.
