Visiting by the Vintage textile fair in Manchester today some lovely button, fabrics, clothes etc it was a real visual feast. One thing I really enjoyed was seeing the unique work by the lovely Priscilla Edwards. Priscilla's work work bridges free machine stitch and 3D wire sculptures. Look out for her new book coming out in May!

Textile free Alert 😂...
Okay I did a run to Cambridge this week to Addinbrookes we had a couple of hours to spare so I wondered into The Fitzwilliam Museum (hoping for a bit of texture and textiles) however what I stumbled on was textile free however very captivating ... Hockney's Eye a wonderfully collated exhibition covering his exploration and use of lenses to project images on paper, for 'tracing'. Something I'd forgotten I read about years ago... The notion that some of the classical artists actually did this (but I kept it quiet) It was a facing overview of DH's thoughts and practice in this, we'll worth a visit if your in the area during the summer!

Ran down to the Fashion & Embroidery and The Creative Craft Show today at the NEC. Had no expectations, no plans just to see my own felt peice & stitch peice (which of course was ment to be in the 2020 show) ened up in a couple of workshops nuno Feltmaking with a lovey lady from the Nolitex group and doing a bit of free stitch with Ruth Parkinson-Johns. What lovey ladies and fine teachers they are.
Also picked up some lovely yarns for couching in this week's creative textile class, yum!

Lino stamp cut, print & Stitch collage 2 day workshop
Jan 13, 2022 – Jan 14, 2022
This is a new workshop inspired by Angie Lewin prints. (We have been working on free stitched collages as part of the Creative Textiles block.) We are looking at cutting your own flora and fauna based heads and stems stamps, printing these on different fabrics and creating a stitch fabric collage with your prints using simple hand embroidery (or free machine stitch if you are already confident with that technique)
We will stop for lunch both days. 10 -2.30pm
£68 for the 2 days

A little bit of Christmas print making... Turn your print into a badge or Christmas card! Open studio on Sunday at part of the Festive Fair 11 til 4pm. Printing is drop in between 12 and 2pm. Badges are limited! £3 per badge or card.

Nothing like brownie making at the crack of dawn. It feels like yesterday but its been nearly 2 years since I ran a 'day' workshop in the studio, lino printing Christmas cards next Saturday here we come. The only question is do you have yours with or without the extra thick cream! 🤔

Had a fab day... Week 2 of the new creative textile block. Soldering, devore and expand-a-print textures. Lots of play today!
