Hoping this may help over Easter 😁

As much as we need to give ourselves a break when we're having a tough day, children need this even more.
We can act as a positive role model for children by labelling our own emotions, and being honest when we need to take five minutes out.

Sharing this image. In a society shaped by and for neurotypicals, it can be difficult for some to feel they belong. Let's embrace and encourage the sparkles and spiky bits - that's what makes us all so unique.
What a powerful image! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

An important reminder that we have no idea what anyone is dealing with. Some people mask, others keep their worries inside, and others simply don't have the words to describe their heaviness.

I’ve just returned from an amazing 7-day course on play and creative arts therapy for children and young people led by School of Play and Creative Therapies. An inspiring and empowering experience in beautiful surroundings.
A recent research paper on the decline of children and young people's mental heath has found:
- More than one in five children and young people in England has a diagnosable mental health condition eg anxiety or depression (almost double the figure from 2017)
- The NHS is only able to support around 40% of those in need
- 75% of mental health problems are established before the age of 24
- The impact of this leads to £1 trillion in lost earnings across the generation
Investment is greatly needed in the mental health of our future generations, and to meet the needs of children and young people in a complex and challenging society. We need to show that we value every member of our communities, and to offer support wherever and whenever it is needed.

Play is the highest form of learning. Scientists are finally discovering this. Kids have always known it.

If you have a learning disability and are over the age of 14, you should be registered on your GP's Learning Disability Register. This will give you some benefits like having an annual health check. This week is with the theme . As adults let's act as role models and encourage children to value individuals for their differences, similarities, skills, abilities and being themselves. In an increasingly digital and confusing world, it is so important that children feel safe and protected.
Don't forget the power that you have to make a positive difference to the world!

Remember that emotions develop before cognition. So we feel something before we understand it.
Understanding your own emotions and the emotions of others needs to be intentional; especially at first.
If you’re someone who was raised in an environment where your emotions were ignored, suppressed, punished or placated, you may not have a great understanding of why your emotions happen because those contextual conversations were not common.
If you grew up with a parent whose emotions dictated how your day would go, you might be very aware of other’s emotions while not really understanding your own.
Children, if raised in an emotionally safe and supportive environment, will start to understand their own emotions first. But as this information becomes integrated in their mind, they will begin to relate to others through emotions.
Start recognizing the emotions of others and look for ways to help. Often starting with what would make them feel better. It’s a truly beautiful process to watch.
