High Street Surgery
High street surgery is an NHS primary care provider in Golborne.

We have been made aware that fraudsters have contacted people within Greater Manchester claiming to be a clinician working with the practice. Once gaining trust they have offered medication or another service for a small fee.
Our staff should always be calling from the practice number although our pharmacy team currently are calling from non-withheld numbers. This is something we are actively addressing. No practice staff should or would ask for your bank details. We are obliged to check some identifiable information to ensure we are speaking with correct person however if you are unsure about someone's identity, we welcome you to challenge any unfamiliar staff. If in doubt, please end the call and contact the practice directly.

If you are using mounjaro for weight loss or diabetes but also rely on the pill for contraception, please read the information below in the link.

Have you had your NHS bowel cancer screening test yet?
If you’re between 52-74 and registered with a GP you will automatically be sent your screening kit through the post every two years. It’s easy to do, and you can complete it yourself in the privacy of your own bathroom.
If you think you’re eligible and haven’t had a kit sent to you, you can call the bowel cancer screening helpline on 0800 707 6060.
Bowel cancer screening finds bowel cancer before you’ve noticed any symptoms, which means it’s much easier to treat.

Get to know the signs and symptoms of bowel cancer:
Blood in your poo, or bleeding from your bottom
a change in your bowel habits such as looser poo, needing to poo more often, pain or feeling like you’ve not properly emptied your bowels.
Persistent pain, or a lump in your tummy
Bloating when you eat
Loss of appetite
Losing weight without trying
If you’ve had any of these symptoms for three weeks or more, or you’re just worried, talk to your GP.
They have these conversations every day, so there’s no need to feel embarrassed when talking about your bowels.
There can be many common reasons for these symptoms, and most people will not have cancer. But finding it early makes it much more treatable.

Sadly abuse in many forms including child sexual abuse is common. One in ten 16 year old children is estimated to have experienced child sexual abuse.
Fear of not being believed or not feeling able to divulge such current or previous experiences unfairly places more burden and pressure on the victim.
All our clinical staff have agreed the importance of creating a safe space where people can divulge such information with confidence that they will be listened to. Trusting anyone with such information is very difficult but we are here to listen if needed.
Our professional obligations mean that if we believe you or others remain at serious risk then we may need to consider breaking confidentiality however if this was necessary it would be done including and considering the victim at every step. If there is no ongoing risk then our rules of confidentiality apply.
