Finding balance in a deficit can sometimes we be hard
Some weight loss programmes will tell you that the only way to lose weight is to cut out all of your favourite things and starve yourself
And even if they dont the chance are its hidden in there agenda
Why do they do this you ask?
Because they want you to drop weight and they want you to drop it fast
But the question is
1)How many times have you dont that diet and end up going back to it because you gained the weight back?
2)Did you last at it long term
Iâm going to assume it didnât take long to gain it back and it didnât last long term because I personally have been there and done that too!
And the reason both of these things happen is because we physically canât live without things we enjoy ie: chocolate, cake etc
Our coaching isnât like this because we have the 80/20 principle
80% of the time we eat whole, nutritious foods
20% we eat more calorie dense foods
Once you switch to living your life like this you wonât go back!
There is no on or off switch to your diet because its your life, its a lifestyle
So there is no âIâm on my dietâ / âIâm off itâ
Just something to think about before you invest your money into these fads again (and again)
Think long term, think your happiness, think your life!

3 steps to a successful calorie deficit
1)Setting the right calorie amount and sticking to it
If you canât stick to your current calories every week then there is no point lowering them anymore
Because the issue isnât the calories its your adherence to said calories
Which may mean they are too low or you are not eating the right foods to keep full
2)Tracking accurately
If you arenât tracking accurately ie: weighing out food, tracking sauces, butters, liquid cals then you could be going over your calories without even realising
3)Not neglecting movement
This will help put you into a bigger deficit without needing to lower your calories
And I know what I would prefer
So dont neglect it

Some coaches will make you do hours of cardio in the gym which you hate
And Iâm all for it if its added to put you in a bigger calorie deficit whilst also weight training
But know doing hours and solely cardio⌠is not the only way to drop body fat
At JZT this is something that we wonât add into clients programmes unless its ABSOLUTELY necessary in order for them to keep seeing results
And even then we are talking 10-15 mins at the end of your workout
The results you see on our page are all done with weight training x2-4 per week and even some with just steps
Proving to you that slaving away on the cardio equipment and being miserable because of it wondering why you canât stick to the gym or its just not for you doesnât need to happen in order to achieve results

44 days into 2023 - did the New Years resolution go to plan?
If it hasnât donât worry - here is 3 things you can do to make sure the rest of feb can go off with a BANG
1)Assess what your goal actually is - is it fat loss, muscle building, creating new habits, improving fitness levels, a combination of them?
2)Put a plan in place for said goal ie: if its far loss you need to be in a calorie deficit
So your calories, activity, workouts, new habits etc.
This way your not going into each week or workout guessing you have a clear idea of A to B
And this is something you donât have to go from 0-100 with else you will get overwhelmed
3)If you really have no clue how to put a plan in place for your goal then reach out for help!
It will literally take all of the guess work and trial and error out of it for you
I had a chat the other day with a potential client about how there is much information out of there its actually hard to know whats right for you
And that is something I experienced too when I first started my own journey into fitness
Reaching out for advice is the best thing you can do!

Having the flexibility to live your life whilst staying on track with your goals â¨â¨When this client came to me she massively struggled with time and motivation when it came to the gym
She went out quite a lot with work and friends â¨â¨And found she had 0 routine whatsoever â¨â¨A lot of this came down to having a busy work schedule and at the end of the day just feeling exhausted with no time for herself â¨â¨So we got this client to start training 3 days a week - on the same days - at the same time â¨â¨This allowed her to keep turning up for herself when motivation was low because she was relying on routine to get her there â¨â¨And trust me the level of discipline this client has developed is insane â¨â¨We also needed to get nutrition under control so that we could create some balance when it came to the social occasions she had each week â¨â¨So we made sure she was aware of the lower calorie drinks she could pick, she had banked calories using MFP and ticked all of her boxes prior to it â¨â¨And the most important one⌠â¨â¨She got back on it the next day - even if she was hungover â¨â¨She has given it everything and has truly adopted this as her life now
And the result speak for themselves
The gym not only helps her towards her goals but contributes to her mental well being â¨â¨And in order to prioritise herself a bit more we have started including daily acts of self care
Weight loss doesnât have to equal having no life
What it does mean is making a change, creating new habits and building a new form of discipline to prioritise yourself and your well being.

Why meal plans wonât = fat loss success long term
Quite simply
Its a quick fix
What happens when you have plans to go out with the girls this weekend?
Quite simply you canât? Am I right?
You have to follow the meal plan to a T for it to work
But thats the thing
It doesnât teach you anything
It doesnât teach you how to navigate this time out with your friends
Or educate you on why you are eating what youâre eating
Our clients however at JZT get taught these skills and this allows them to see results every single week whilst also living their life in the process

They keep these results long term

So you will have seen on my stories last week that I went back to the gym for the 1st time in 2 months so i wanted to give you a bit of an update
At the end of November I was getting to a point where I was hating the gym and had fell out of love with it
I found it to be a real chore and even when there i didnât enjoy it
Which just isnt like me at all
When I spoke to my coach I realised it came down to the fact that i wasnât going for the right reasons I was going because i felt like as a coach I had too and I put an immense amount of pressure on myself
So I took December off training completely (I wasnât a complete couch potato I still remained active through walking, stretching etc)
And in January we have introduced short home workouts (something I am lucky enough to do) and focused on how moving my body made me feel.
Now fast forward to the end of jan where I have now worked on my values and re found my reasons for training I felt like it was the right time to go back
I now train for me, the mental benefits and feeling it gives me and no one or nothing else
And I am looking forward to seeing where I can now go with it.
But the reason I wanted to talk about this is because if you are someone that has been going to the gym for a long period of time this can happen
And if you are anything like me it can make you feel quite sad about it - training completely changed my life but in November it just wasnât my escape anymore
However it doesnât have to get to that point - its about taking a step back, re assessing your WHY and going back with a clearer head when ready.

Prior to working with me this client was terrified of wearing anything that would accentuate her figure â¨â¨She was new to the gym and was scared to push herself outside her comfort zone
And had previously felt low calories were the only way to lose weight! â¨â¨Fast forward to now⌠if she likes the way something looks on her she has got to treat herself to it â¨â¨Her relationship with herself and her body has massively improved amongst the physical transformationâ¨â¨She even pushed herself to do her own photoshoot â¨â¨And she is no longer terrified of going to the gym or worried about what others think about herâ¨â¨We have also taught her how to build realistic habits that she can keep with her nutrition â¨â¨Again it was not just a physical transformation from this client but a mindset one too â¨â¨As I alway say no matter how much weight you lose if you do not have a good relationship with your body you will still be unhappy with the end result â¨â¨Trust me I have been there and itâs so so vital â¨â¨Thats not to say you still wonât have bad body image days â¨â¨But it does mean that for the most part you are happy in your own skin no matter where you are at on your journey â¨â¨If this is something you are struggling with try writing down acts of body appreciation â¨â¨This could be something from as little as getting out of bed in a morning to getting you through your gym session â¨â¨Being creative at work â¨â¨Loving your friends and family â¨â¨Whatever it is start implementing it â¨â¨And call yourself out when you are being negative towards yourself â¨â¨If you are on your weight loss journey and taking the necessary steps to get to your end goalâ¨â¨Then you need to cut yourself some slack â¨â¨and be kinder to yourself@â¨â¨THINK⌠would you speak to your friend or a loved one the way you speak to yourself??â¨â¨If you want to find love for yourself again then please DM with the world LOVE and we can have a chat â¤ď¸
