Literally, the name Yu Ping Feng means Jade Screen, i.e. forming a solid screen to protect our body. Yupingfengwan contains 3 simple ingredients: HuangQi, called “the senior of all herbs” in the Essentials of the Materia Medica (A.D. 1694), is considered the best immune tonic herb in stabilizing and strengthening the protective “Qi” [3]–[7]. Baizhu is bitter, sweet and warm in nature, and which is beneficial for anti-inflammation, anti-hepatotoxic, anti-ulcer, anti-obesity, anti-cancer and so on [8]–[11]. Fangfeng is used to expel “wind”, to relieve exterior syndrome, to eliminate dampness, to relieve convulsion and diarrhea [12]–[14]. Having these herbs, Yupingfengwan is being used to replenish “Qi” and to consolidate the superficies and arrest perspiration, i.e. clinical symptoms having spontaneous sweating, frequent colds, aversion to wind, fatigue and a pale and shiny complexion. Yupingfengwan has been applied in anti-viral or anti-bacterial effects, which indeed has been shown to prevent viral infections including severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and enhance cellular immunity .
Cupping Therapy :Michael Phelps . gymnast Alex Naddour and others in Rio aproved :)
From "MEN'S HEALTH "
What Is Cupping Therapy, and Why Does Michael Phelps Swear By It?
It’s all due to a technique called cupping therapy. But is there actually any science behind it?
By Paige Carlotti August 8, 2016
Cupping therapy
Competing in the Olympics is definitely grueling, but it’s not the sports that are responsible for some of the bruises on several of the top athletes.
For instance, swimmer Michael Phelps and gymnast Alex Naddour—among other competitors—have been seen with round, purple marks across their bodies.
So what’s going on?
It’s called cupping therapy, and it’s a form of ancient Chinese medicine purported to treat athletic aches and other pains.
But can a couple of cups on your skin really make a difference in what’s going on in your body? We take a look at what’s really behind this health trend.
How Does Cupping Therapy Work?
In cupping therapy, an acupuncturist soaks a cotton ball in alcohol and lights it on fire inside a glass cup.
He or she removes the flame, and quickly places the cup on a patient’s skin, creating a vacuum that draws up the skin tissue, says Mark Perido, an educator with the International Cupping Therapy Association.
When the skin seals the hot air in the vessel, the air inside begins to cool, causing the skin to contract.
Advocates of cupping say it’s this stretching and contraction of the skin that makes cupping effective, since it increases blood flow.
“Blood flow is the body’s way of naturally healing,” says Houman Danesh, M.D., an assistant professor of anesthesiology and rehabilitation medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital who frequently combines cupping with mainstream pain therapy techniques. “Increased blood flow can be beneficial to jumpstart or restart a blunted healing response.”
looking for gift ideas? we have £5.00, £10.00. £25.00 gift vouchers in store.
with £5.00, you can have 10 minutes relaxing pain relieving neck and shoulder massage;
£10.00 can have 20 minutes massage or a cupping session;
£25.00 can have an acupuncture session. which normally we charge for £30.00. or reflexology for 35 minutes. or 35 minutes full body massage.
A lot of people use acupuncture when they find conventional medical treatments do not work for them. Others use acupuncture alongside more conventional treatment, as a way of enhancing their existing treatment, and speeding their recovery. Some people find that their medical treatment is causing unwanted side effects, and therefore they may try acupuncture as an alternative. Some people who have had acupuncture find that they are able to reduce, or eventually stop taking certain forms of medication. However, under no circumstances should you stop taking any prescribed medication, unless your GP specifically advises you to.
