Did you know changing your inhalers could help tackle the climate crisis?
Ventolin inhalers have a carbon footprint equivalent to 28kg of carbon dioxide. This is the equivalent carbon footprint of driving a petrol car from Sheffield to London.
Many patients are now seeking ways to reduce greenhouse gases released from their inhalers by switching their inhalers.

At Padgate we have started on a planet saving exercise by switching some inhalers.

Please be reassured that although the inhaler may look or taste different, it contains the exact same drug and will have the same benefits as before.

If you would like some help using your new inhaler please consult your local pharmacy.

Dear Patients,

You may have seen the news about the massive vaccination plans and how this might impact routine appointments. We know this might be a worrying time for you especially if you have appointments booked both in general practice or at hospital.

At this stage, we are speedily trying to understand what's expected of us and working through the details so we can let you know the very latest as soon as possible. We found out at the same time as you did.

Our reception team won't have any details about vaccinations if you call so if you have any queries, please sit tight and we shall post an update here shortly. Let's keep the phone lines free for people who need urgent appointments. Thank you so much everyone!

Why can’t I see my GP?

There’s been lots of bad press about GPs working in the NHS. One of our GPs has taken the time to explain why it’s become increasingly challenging to see a GP.
We are just as frustrated as you are and we are doing our best to meet the rising demand.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination 15/09/2021

Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination

Patients aged 12 and over with severe immunosuppression are now recommended to receive a third primary dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. In light of the latest advise from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI). The advise recommends that a third dose is given for individuals aged 12 and over with immunosuppression. This is being advised as a precautionary measure to increase you immunity level and provide a better vaccine response, based on studies and experience with other vaccines. It is part of your primary course of vaccination and is separate to a booster vaccination, which you will likely become eligible for in six months time, pending further notice.

The recommendation is at least 8 weeks after your second dose. Your third dose may be at the Hospital where you receive treatment, your local Primary Care Network or at another site they direct you to.

For more information about the coronavirus vaccine please visit www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination.

If you wish to book an appointment please call the Surgery.

*Update following the Government announcement 12th July 2021*

Throughout the pandemic we have strived to make the surgery safe for all patients & staff and will continue to do so. From the 19TH JULY NOTHING WILL CHANGE AT THE SURGERY – patients will need to still wear a mask or visor (if exempt from wearing a mask), socially distance & sanitise on entering the building. Staff will continue to wear PPE.

We understand it can be frustrating for patient’s that our door access will remain restricted but we know when people come to see us they are sick and vulnerable so we feel it would be wrong to not take these precautions that can protect people. We also need to protect our team in order that there is no interruption in our service.

In terms of opening up, as many of you know, WE HAVE NEVER BEEN SHUT & in fact have consulted with much higher numbers of patients than we did pre-Covid, not discounting vaccinating 90% of the over 50’s population in 6 months.

Padgate MC has come far in trying to minimise the impact of Covid and we are sure you understand that we need to keep the surgery safe for ALL patients
