Ancient tree tunnels in oil pastels, would love a stroll down any of these! Gorgeous work!

22/02/2022

Oil pastels are such a versatile medium. By moving away from the thick application/blending to a lighter touch and enjoying mark making again we can create such an atmosphere in an ancient tree tunnel for our second oil pastel project this term.

Photos from The Seasons Art Class Warrington's post 19/02/2022

A thick application of multiple layers of oil pastel with lots of blending to create these yummy tomatoes! We had to trust the process when our tomatoes had more blue and purple than red! Well worth it, well done everyone!

10/02/2022

After 3 weeks of fabulous drawings we were ready for a COLOUR injection! Juicy tomatoes in oil pastels are a tasty way to get into our next module 🍅 ❤️🍅❤️🍅

🍂🍁🌸🌸🌸🌸💐Week 7- Watercolour flowers. This week we painted gorgeous colourful watercolour pansies. As always Roberta and I enjoyed seeing everyones personalities and style come through in their artwork.

After tackling of the details of a large flat pansy some students took on the challenge of painting fresh flowers from a still life using the techniques of the last few weeks watercolour classes or a crisp autumn leaf gathered from the grounds of our wonderful venue here at Warrington Sports Club.

Our returner used her watercolour skills to create a lovely abstract floral piece, she had to practice patience waiting for those layers to dry but I was worth it!

It was heaven to be surrounded by flowers, watercolour painting and our wonderful artists having such fun together!

We know you find watercolour challenging but we are so very proud of your work! 😁👍🖌🎨🌸🍁🍂💐

Good morning everyone, I have created a group for our Seasons Art students in Warrington- see below

It is called 'Seasons Art Warrington Student group'

Please add yourselves so we can chat and share our work and Roberta and I can put private updates for you ###

Week 6- First week of watercolours! We were really looking forward to using this medium and we started as usual with learning lots of new techniques to get warmed up. We also looked at colour theory so we could understand how to mix up the colours we want and hopefully not end up with mud!

Watercolour painting can be soft and romantic, detailed and realistic or even abstract and modern. Our first project was a beautiful mountain scene. Using only 2 colours, this painting required many different techniques such as washes, glazes, wet in wet, dry brushing, lifting out to name a few and all our our students handled it marvellously!

Our returner created a colourful urban landscape, using the same techniques she learnt in her foundation course and with a few new ones too. She enjoyed splashing the paint around and experimenting. We put her in the corner to keep the rest of us clean!

We love your watercolour landscapes!

Week 5- Amazing Animals! What a great topic for our last week of oil pastels.

This week we looked at creating fur and texture using a variety of oil pastel techniques and making sure our animal forms were correct using shapes.

Our students created the cutest furry cow pictures before the break and after they painted a beloved pet or gorgeous animal.

We are in love with your animals and seeing them come to life! Well done everyone 👍

Week 4- Hello glorious colour, colour colour!

Oil pastels this week, a bright vivid medium, with all the creaminess and saturation of oil paints in a fun crayon shape. Some of us loved getting messy making marks with it and others did not enjoy the mess so baby wipes were our best friends!

Using the drawing skills we acquired over the last three weeks we started with making marks to get used to how the pastels perform.

Then we began to paint apples, this time shading and highlighting with colour. We couldn't help but be bold with the pastels and it was fascinating to see how the pictures developed as we added layers and took them off in certain areas and layered back on top to get those 3-D shapes. Some people decided to do another piece of fruit or veg as well!

Our returner took it to the next level and created pear using only stippling and then a stunning Cezanne inspired still life. Beautiful!

Your gorgeous bright colourful fruit and vegetable paintings ended up looking absolutely delightful!

🎨👍🍎🍐🍌🍍🍋🥝

Week 3- We couldn't believe it was week three, the last one of our drawing modules but thanked our lucky stars that we could still meet up despite a local lockdown descending on Warrington. We accepted our new normal of wearing facemask in class gracefully and were happy the weather was still lovely enough to enjoy our tea break on the sun terrace.

This week we tackled the scary subjects of figures and faces. Even though our brains were reeling from the maths that Leonardo Da Vinci made us do... we agreed it did make approaching both subjects less daunting. Knowing those guidelines gives a great starting point for each drawing.

Roberta and I were blown away the talent in this warm friendly art group, every one of you captured the essence and character of the person that you drew, using techniques we taught you, your own art style emerged and we could not be any prouder! Woo hoo!!! You all crushed the drawing module! 👏👏👏👍

Photos from The Seasons Art Class Warrington's post 03/10/2020

Week 2- Continuing with drawing, this week we looked at perspective and enlarging.

Understanding perspective helps us plan our pictures. Formal perspective methods are the foundations we will need should we wish to draw either outdoor landscapes or interior room views.

Learning about different types of perspectives, we focused on one point to create a simple room with doors, windows and furniture.

Next we searched out the vanishing points of various photos to start to create a more detailed drawing of a landscape or an interior room, finishing it off at home.

To enlarge from A4 to A3 we used the grid method that artists have been using for centuries! Its so helpful in making sure everything is in the right place and size and then we can get on with glorious mark making to bring our horses to life!

We love all your horses- yes even the ones with Kim Kardashian bums! 🐎😍😂

Art Classes Warrington, a drawing and painting school for adults, created over many years to cater for both beginners and improvers alike. We are proud to have over 120 classes operating within the UK and now around the world, so we truly believe you have landed in the right place – for art classes in Warrington. All of our courses are designed to be fun, and are a great way to meet like minded people, who more often than not become life long friends!

The lessons are taught over a 14 week period, where we explore four different media: Pencil Drawing, Oil Pastels, Watercolours and Acrylics. Our classes are adapted to each students needs, where we give them all the help they require to develop their artistic skill and harness the abilities of our fantastic tutors.

By the end of the 14 weeks, students would have created a minimum of 12 pieces of art, drawing and painting things they would never have dreamt possible!

The seasons art class Warrington put great thought into planning each lesson carefully. The 14 week course (one three hour session per week) is designed to help bring out the creative spirit within, and encourages students to maintain their artistic focus and enthusiasm. Our continuous work behind the scenes ensures no 14 week season is the same, which is probably why our classes are often booked months in advance by students who want to return and learn further.
