Happy New Year everyone!

Thank you so much for all of your custom and friendship during 2022. Last year was one that saw a fair few changes at RP Tyre and Battery and we are so grateful, that those changes and the ongoing support from you guys has made our little garage into something so much bigger and better than when we first started out. Without you that would not have been possible.

So then, let’s get cracking with 2023!

Here are our closing/reopening dates for Christmas this year.

Please be aware we are quite busy so booking is essential.

We are closing for Christmas on the 23rd at 3pm however and will reopen on the 4th January at the usual time of 8:30. Booking is essential as we are very busy.

Although our M.O.T. bay has only been open for a relatively short time, we already have become quite busy.

Please aim to to arrange M.O.T. bookings at least one week in advance to avoid disappointment. Though we do have the odd cancellation here and there, we aren’t always able to cater for short notice bookings.

Out of respect for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, the garage will be closed on 19th September. Arrangements for the work booked in on that day have/will be made in order to minimise any inconvenience.

Our hearts go out to the royal family at this time and to anyone who has been affected by The Queen’s passing.

TerraClean technicians know that in most cases a blocked DPF is a symptom of another problem that must be identified.

Here is an example of a car presented to a dealer. A clean would have been simple but it would not have made for a happy customer because the unit would simply re-block again.

As an authorised TerraClean service centre they identified the cause. In this case the engine was being starved of oxygen by one of the worst condition they had seen for many years.

Don’t scrimp in servicing your car folks!! When you have a warning light don't jump to conclusions. Professional diagnostics and problem solving will lead to effective long term DPF cleaning.

Just a quick note.

Due to increasing demand for use of our courtesy cars, we now need at least a weeks notice from customers who require one.

Failing that, we do have the numbers of various local taxi drivers, who I’m sure would be happy to help.

The workshop is flooded due to a hole in the roof, some of our electric is down, the internet is down and the M.O.T. bay has turned into a paddling pool. 🏊🏊. Please be patient as we are working towards rectifying these problems and getting back up and running.

It’s going to be a hot one today and it gets even hotter in the garage, so we’ve decided to close at the earlier time of 4pm.

But in the mean time…

This Honda CRV was presented to one of service centres in "limp-mode" with several error lights relating to DPF faults illuminated.

They carried out initial diagnostics to check if the unit was actually blocked... the onboard computer had logged over 60grams of soot and measured 12psi back pressure, which is high. They then confirmed the back pressure with a manual pressure check.

Using the patented Terraclean solution thy were able to clear the blockage on the vehicle which reduced the back pressure down to just 0.5psi and brought the vehicle out of limp-mode, then they carried out a road test and allowed the vehicle to carry out a successful regeneration.

The vehicle is now out of limp mode, all lights extinguished and running as it should be.

Since opening our M.O.T. bay we have had a few requests for “a guaranteed pass”.

Normally we pride ourselves in going above and beyond to help our customers out, in this case though, I’m sorry but 🎵 we won’t do thaaaat. 🎵.

Issuing an M.O.T. to a vehicle which 🧙🏻 should not pass, could mean we receive a massive fine and even a prison sentence. So I’m sure you can understand if we respectfully refuse those requests.
