Sad sad times!

Everyone at Team 247 will miss Gerard so much!

STATEMENT: GERARD McCOSH

Organisers of the Legends Cars National Championship with MRF Tyres are extremely sad to announce the tragic passing of much-loved competitor Gerard McCosh, who has lost a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Ever-popular Gerard, who resided in the Scottish town of Biggar, was renowned throughout national motorsport in the UK for his wonderful approach to racing but also, and actually more so, for his immaculate No.69 maroon Legend 1934 Coupe with his trusty mascot passenger ‘Napoleon’ the pig.

The 67-year-old, who has been a feature of Legends competition for many years, had registered to again be part of the 2021 grid and his loss will be felt deeply throughout the friendliest paddock in British motorsport.

Legends Cars National Championship with MRF Tyres owner Phil Cooper:
“I’m at a loss for words learning of this awful, tragic news. Gerard was a wonderful character, a great competitor who absolutely loved his racing and simply a fantastic person – a gentleman in the truest sense of the word.

“I know I can speak on behalf of everyone associated with Legends Cars, the drivers, teams and all who work behind the scenes, when I say we will miss Gerard terribly and the paddock and the championship won’t be the same without him. We are absolutely devastated for his loving family and send out deepest, deepest condolences to them.”
