✨Just a little reminder✨

As the weather gets colder, our skin gets dryer, our hands crack and our lips chapped. Unfortunately our nails are not exempt to that.

Our nails get dry and brittle, and as a result, lifting of polish can be more frequent.
The good news is there are some things you can do to prevent lifting and show your nails some extra love in the colder seasons.

1. Moisturise
Use cuticle oil and hand cream daily, especially after washing your hands. The goal is to bring moisture to the nail plate so they don’t become dry and brittle creating lifts or snags.

2. Wear gloves
Wear gloves when doing household cleaning. Prolong exposure to hot water and cleaning products can make nails soft and weak.

3. Moisturise before bed
Apply cuticle oils and hand cream before bed. Applying generously allows for it to soak in all night. Consider putting some gloves on to hold that moisture in, waking up with softer hands.

4. Avoid biting nails
This can cause nails to split, that could eventually end up going further up the nails. Biting nails can also increase the chance of an infection.

5. Shorten nails
Opt to shorter nails as brittleness can lead to more snags and breaks.

LETS TALK OILING💧

I honestly can not stress enough how important it is to use cuticle oil during the time you have any sort of enhancement on your nails, even when you have nothing on them.
I recommend that you use cuticle oil around your cuticle and underneath your free edge TWICE A DAY!!

The benefits are:
• stimulates nails growth
• prevents breakages
• helps keep your nail enhancements last longer
• fresh, renewed look
• prevents hangnails
• prevents drying of the natural nail

Using simply hand cream isn’t enough. Hand cream will hydrate your skin, not your cuticles or your natural nail. Use both to be a STAR client✨

Trust me on this one, start oiling twice a day and you will 100% notice a huge difference!

LETS TALK HEAT SPIKES

Heat spikes are a normal occurrence during your nail treatment but can vary due to a few different factors.
You may experience more of a heat spike with a thicker coat of gel as there is more product to polymerise so working in thinner layers is advised, and/or for example if you have pulled all your nails off and your nail plate is thin and damaged.

A little bit of science for you..
a heat spike is a result of of chemical bonds being formed during the curing process, this is called an exothermic reaction. Every time a bond is formed heat is given off. Resulting in the warm pressure you feel on your nail plate.

The heat spike will only last a few seconds, I will always instruct the client to remove their hand from the lamp when they feel the heat. There is no advantage in persevering and flapping your hand around won’t do you any good trust me! Once the heat spike has decreased place your hand back in the lamp to continue with your manicure.

Did you know why it’s important for you to have a regular 3-4 week infill on nails?

🌿 To stop product lifting, when the product is growing out it becomes unbalanced with the length and weight sitting at the end of the nails. This can also make it easier for nails to come away from the nail plate
