Spring Farm Alpacas

A grass snake in our mums and babes field last week. Looks bigger than it was at about 2 feet long.

Photographed in our fields yesterday. Couldn’t resist an artistic photo of the common ( how rude) spotted orchid. Chris is the real photographer amongst us!

Lazy days just taking it slow. Why use a pillow Ducati when you’ve got a Prince Caspian?

Just how many baby birds can you get on a feeder? Our birdfeeders are kept scrupulously clean and disinfected. So many baby starlings, blue t**s, coal t**s and goldfinches. Literally incredible numbers.

Our “rodent operative”-that is seriously what a former accountant once called one of our cats, is demonstrating that we should never forget to feel young and actually more importantly we should always find a sense of fun!….with a box of10 ml syringes.

This little beauty was born yesterday. Our starter for 11 more!

Straight after shearing, Fifi Trixibelle was still more interested in us than afraid. Great job thanks again to Matt Kyle and Dan.

Just in case you’ve had enough pretty alpaca photos ( only joking) here are a couple of cool insects found on our farm this week. The shiny blue / black beetle is a Minotaur beetle, but even more weird, is the great diving beetle found in our yard! Probably looking to colonise a new pond. It was huge and can bite!

Today was shearing day. A busy, but fun day it has to be said. (Glad it’s over for another year, but a great time to enjoy the fleeces of our beautiful alpacas & llamas)
So many people to help, and the day was seemless- it’s important to enjoy these full on days. A massive thanks to all involved and of course to Matt Kyle and Dan who takes holiday to help Matt out. Great to see you guys.
