🏁 PFI Club Round 3 Results 🏁

A solid weekend at Trent Valley Kart Club (TVKC) with plenty of positives to take away from the weekend.

However I’m still a bit disappointed about the final result where i missed out on a podium finish second last corner.

There was plenty of Progress made throughout the weekend with great close racing up front in all 3 races. The top 6 swapping positions at every corner. Good races to watch.

Qualifying – P6/30 so decent position. I knew there was 2 corners i could find those remaining tenths.

Heat 1 – P3 Great battles up front with some of the best drivers in the country.

Heat 2 – P6 i was tapped onto the grass at the start & fell back to P15. I got my head down & made my way through to catch the front pack on the last lap.

Final – Started P3-P5 I managed to get up to P2 at the start & it was a battle the whole race between the top 5. It Could’ve been anyones. I Was in P4 & i knew one of the drivers in front had a penalty. So i was in the fight for a podium finish. On the second last corner there was contact & i was lucky to cross the line in P7 then penalties got to P5.

I Was frustrated at the time of how the race ended but we have to take the positives away from this weekend.

I enjoyed being up at the sharp end battling all weekend. We had the pace & the kart felt good to be able push. It came together this weekend.

Well done to everyone 👍🏻👏🏻 look forward to next race.

Thanks to Venator Racing Engines for the waft & support 👍🏻💨

This weekend was Round Three of The Kart Championship at Whilton Mill Kart Club. A track we havent been at for over a year so thought we might be on the back foot.

Practice Friday had good pace trying different setups & getting back used to the track.

Saturday was the closest qually yet. All 4 aligned as we say track, driver, waft & kart. I ended up coming out pits nearly last. I knew id have my work cut out going through the traffic but the kart felt effortless to drive, the power was unreal & we were quick coming through. With the times you’d think we were in a train but we were at opposite sides of the track myself going through traffic every lap. P1. Was chuffed.

Heat 1, 2 & the superheats it didn’t quite align. We tried different setups & although pace was still fast & i got away out front every time. we dropped a few places in every heat. I just couldn’t maintain the lead.

Final was the best it’d felt since qually but i just literally avoided a pile up & kart flipping turn 2 at Christmas corner. There was still just under 12 minutes to go the race isn’t won in the first few corners.

The front 2 broke away as i lost numerous positions to P9. Got head down & came through to P4 then as defending last few corners, which i shouldn’t have done as i lost time, when i had the pace to keep the position. Although we had clean racing throughout i lost the position by being tapped from behind sending me wide. Post race P3.

We were happy with that & would say was right for the pace we had as was between 4 drivers all weekend. Racing doesn’t usually go our way but this weekend was a good one with lots of championship points gained this weekend.

It was good close clean racing upfront all weekend between Jenson, Alfie, Ethan & myself. 👍🏻👏🏻

Well done to JensJenson Sayell motorsport the win & EthaEthan Lloyd Shame Alfie got caught up in the pile up as you were quick all weekend 👍🏻

Well done to My fellow Scots 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Sam P4 & Lewis P5 👏🏻👏🏻

Thanks to VenaVenator Racing Engines the waft & support as always 👍🏻

PFI Round 2 & just like The Kart Championship a couple of weeks ago we struggled with kart setup not like round one where everything came together.

Didn’t do Friday practice this week & i think it showed. Bad qualifying so knew id have my work cut out.

Heat 1 it started to rain as we left the grid all on slicks. I manage to get to P6 as the track dried i didnt evolve quick enough so dropped a few places to P10.

Heat 2 lost few places at the start then finished P13

Final was the best it’d felt all weekend. Lots of battles to then all push to a train of 7 karts battling for P3. Alot of the drivers used their heads this time instead of fighting for mid pack & pushed to get to the front. However I didn’t make the moves when i should’ve done so finished P9 to then get a nose penalty so went to P16 😫

PFI is a hard track to figure out setup wise in the KR just now for some reason & for it to be consistent. 🤯

We Learned more this weekend to take into Round 3 🤞🏻

Thanks to those who gave us some pointers & Venator Racing Engines for the waft. 💨

🏁Its Race week at The Kart Championship for Round 2 at PFI up against another strong grid of 29 drivers. Solid progress made at the club round last weekend so I’m looking forward to it 🏁 lets go 💨

This weekend we headed to PFI to get some testing in before The Kart Championship next weekend.

Friday morning Practice was dry & we were a little off the pace as not been to PFI a lot & its usually been in the rain.

Saturday during the practice sessions we decided to make quite a few changes to the kart. Instantly felt better & i was able to push. Times dropping every session.

Qually P5 which we were happy with knowing there was room for improvement in a few corners to find the last remaining tenths.

Heat 1 got up to P3 to be pushed off onto the grass. Lost a number of positions to come back through to P6

Heat 2 it had been drizzling & track was drying quickly. Decided to go out on slicks. Again got up to P3 in first few corners. However we all came together. I managed to go round the outside & get going in P1. Half Defending on the last lap Oscar Managed to get through & take the win I finished P2 & had the fastest laps throughout the race. However post race penalty for nose dropped me to P8 😫

Final starting P6. It wasn’t a great start. I lost a number of Positions. Everyone battling for their position. Managed to get through the chaos up to P2 chasing Down P1 for the slow flags to come out. I was Caught a bit sleeping on the restart. I lost the tow to Oscar but others didn’t on me so i was soon swamped in the bowl & lost a number of positions. Last lap getting fired across the grass didn’t help either. P8OT ➡️P5.

I was gutted to not be on the podium but know I’ve got the pace to race at the front thanks to Venator Racing Engines. Also thanks to Rhys & Kai for the check ins throughout the weekend. 👍🏻

We Thought it was going to be a Venator 1,2,3 but hey thats racing. The waft is on point.

Looking forward to next weekend at PFI at the kart championship after a positive weekend but not necessarily the result we’d hoped for going into the final.
