🌻We love vintage blue & white, from TG Green to Ditmar Urbach or a mixture of different designers & styles. Blue & white is always striking and will never let you down...

We’ve found this wonderful blue & white Art Deco c1920-1939 blue ceramic salt box or salt pig. Functional or decorative, it’s a beautiful addition to your display😊

The chequer pattern is unusual with ‘Sel’ for salt stamped on the front in white with a striking Art Deco font. The salt box is made by Ditmar Urbach and made in Czechoslovakia (see marks on base).

Overall it is in good used condition. There are a couple of nibbles to base (unnoticeable) and some paint loss inside. It has an original wooden lid, all in good order.

A handsome vintage piece, complimenting your collection of other blue and white and vintage objects inside your kitchen or home.👍

Ditmar Urbach made quality ceramic pieces c1920-1939. Karl Rudolf Ditmar (1818-1895) started the company alongside his brother Friedrich operating from a base in Vienna. Initially they made quality oil lamps but soon realised that the demand for ceramic lamp bases was growing. Rudolf had opened up an art pottery in Znojmo in 1879. He died in 1895 when the company was sold. By 1910 it had combined with the Urbach brothers who expanded the business across Europe.

In 1918 Czechoslovakia was born as a new country. Urbach ceramics were stamped with ‘Made in Czechoslovakia’ from 1920, however, the ‘Anschluss’ of 1938 halted production as it was confiscated by the Austrian government.

This makes pieces by Ditmar Urbach marked ‘Made in Czechoslovakia’ quite rare.❤️

I’m Sarah from Rockwood Heritage Antiques, Unit C, at Cobblestone Walk. It’s another beautiful sunny day here on the South Coast in England. Hope it is the same with you.

We may not be able to open our shop right now but we’ve been having a good old rummage to bring to you the very best vintage gorgeousness that Rockwood Heritage has to offer for our forthcoming virtual vintage sale this coming Sunday🌞

👉SUNDAY 7th MARCH 2021
👉March Hare Vintage Fair - mini online fair

A wee bit about me:
❤️ I started buying antiques when I was around 13 watched over by the careful eye of my picture/antiques dealer dad. It’s addictive and I’ve been buying and selling ever since! I later became a historian and museum curator looking after some of the nation’s most incredible and diverse art collections. I like to think that collecting and ultimately caring for antiques is in the blood!

Buying antiques and vintage is the ultimate recycling, doing your bit...’going green’. Unique pieces for your home, as a gift, to bespoke your life or to give to loved ones. It’s never too late to start collecting!

I love rummaging as you never know what you will find! I’m happy to advise where and how to start for anyone interested.❤️

Rockwood Heritage Antiques started trading at Cobblestone just before Christmas. We’re delighted to be part of a big family there!

Really excited to be collaborating with other dealers each specialising in fabulous vintage treasures, coast to coast from East and West Sussex to Scotland:
👉Blue Hare Vintage
👉Alice's attic
👉Curtiss & Clementine

As promised, here’s a sneak preview of a few Rockwood Heritage items. We have everything from art, original vintage motor racing posters, vintage 1960’s ‘Sputnik’ fruit bowl to jewellery and more!🤩

Thanks to the lovely Rachel for bringing us altogether for this March extravaganza!

Looking forward to seeing you there this Sunday.
Please click on the ‘Going’ boxes on our event page so that we can see who’s coming! All the relevant information and updates will then be sent to you.’s a glimpse of what we will have on offer...😍

Welcome to the Christmas 2021 issue of Record Collector (#526), a 164-page bumper special edition (plus 2022 calendar featuring collectables from Sun Ra to the Sex Pistols), in shops now or available here:

This month, our front cover article focuses on rock megastars Queen; or rather, they focus on RC: this month, our special Christmas issue has been edited by none other than Brian May and Roger Taylor - Official. Not only are they interviewed at great length in the magazine – about their incredible 50-plus-year career, about fame, fear, Freddie and Brian’s amazing trove of fabled acetates - but they’ve also been involved in deciding much of the content, from the Editor’s letter to the News, Reviews and Feature pages.

It’s not all prog-rock pomp and majesty this month. Elsewhere, there are interviews with “the UK Madonna” Kim Wilde and lovers rock queen Carroll Thompson. We salute Gene Vincent, the original punk, and the none-more-quirky Trunk Records. We go back to Manchester 1981 and remember an era of hothouse invention bridging post-punk and Madchester. Gary Numan tells us about his new singles box set and we investigate pirate cassettes. We pick the Best of 2021: New Albums and Reissues. There are also new reviews of albums by Bowie, Nirvana, The Doors, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Neil Young, Elvis, Motorhead, Rod Stewart… books about Prince and Christmas singles.

Meanwhile we find out Bob Stanley’s contenders for best record, Ian McCann puts literary suggestions onto Santa’s list, Luke Haines navigates the Swell Maps, while David Quantick has the vinyl word.

We also take a look around a south London-based collection, recall Keith Cross & Peter Ross, rewatch ITV’s glam 1975 Christmas Supersonic, find out how much a Nirvana Christmas card will set you back, take a trip to Jack White’s new London-based record shop and chat to Davy O’List, Mark Stern, Adam Lambert, James Morrison and Rob Baker.

Our blue pages of listings have everything this month from The Saints to Young Gods via Little Angels and The Jesus & Mary Chain, while our competitions page has BMX Bandits, Philly Soul, Gus Dudgeon and Fruits de Mer goodies all to be won.

Don’t forget our current special edition: RECORD COLLECTOR PRESENTS DEPECHE MODE. And look out for our ABBA special arriving in time for Christmas.

Keep collecting and many thanks for your continued support of Record Collector.
