If you are a competent skater, can get around without the barriers, then we have limited spaces in our under 16 group for the coming season - drop the club a message for a trial session.

A day off or extra off ice?!
Throwback to the GB team coming for a skate with us in 2020, many Mohawks back having a skate on home ice.
Joined by world champion Elise Christie, my team mate and Jo’s - they won a European Chamionship relay gold together in Latvia.
Back then Ad jr was a Jr, Farrell had been to 1 Olympics and was due his 2nd and would make the 1500m Olympic final in Beijing still recovering from covid, Niall was emerging but would still be 2 years before making his 1st Olympics!
Amazing professionalism, they turned up, warmed up, did pads, committed to our session and got pads off, with smiles, great times and many more to come. Not to mention our Master also former Olympians Rob and Steve mixing it up and passing on the baton!
There’s not many training sessions like a top Mohawks training session, we had group 2 and 3 in the middle sharing the track taking it all in!
We have room in the under 16’s group for new skaters, wear any type of skates you want, joggers etc - drop the page a message !

A Full Circle Moment for steve.humber
After many successful years in Mohawk colours, Steve is completing a full lap and returning to his original club to race in green again.
Following a period away from the sport, he joined the Mohawks as a Masters skater and has gone on to enjoy an outstanding second chapter in his career with us.
During his time with the Mohawks, Steve has achieved British Championship relay gold, claimed individual British and World Masters titles, set a World Masters record.
It's been quite a journey, and while club changes are rare in Speed skating, especially at the Mohawks with our fantastic coaches, this move is a full-circle moment as he heads back to the club where it all started.
We would like to thank Steve for everything he has contributed to the Mohawks over the years, both on and off the ice.

Mohawks Competition is booked for 7th November 2026 - for all ages including novice races.
We have 4 hours ice so starting earlier, keep an eye on details nearer the time. !

How often do you intentionally practice stride pattern?
Here are all the stride patterns we plan into skills development (some others take care of themselves - 2 crossovers in, 3 crossovers out, full corner crossovers, 4 pushes in the straight, no crossover entry, crossovers on the straight.
Then there’s the racing lines! Phew!
Making these skills natural makes for super adaptable racers!

FYI no training at Solihull tomorrow.
Rink have been relaying ice and painting lines this week.
With the hot weather it’s taking a day longer to get the ice back up to thickness
Just in case some were planning to travel and train🧊.
