It’s only a couple of weeks since the children went back to school, the bbq food disappeared from the shops and been replaced by Halloween things. Spooky how that happens eh. 🎃

What is on your own new term timetable? Is this the time to set new intentions, goals and do something for you?

Clinical studies and research have demonstrated the value of mindfulness practice in improving general mental wellbeing and health. Mindfulness practice has also become a recognised intervention procedure in the treatment of anxiety and depression. Paul is offering regular drop-in mindfulness meditation sessions, with some guidance, each Monday at 12 noon in the Yoga and Wellness rooms. ⠀

Paul has maintained a regular daily meditation practice since 1985, originally learning mindfulness meditation through Theravada Buddhism, but having a range of experience in meditation and contemplative practices from different philosophical and faith traditions. ⠀
Paul was previously an associate professor in statistics and is now a masters student in mindfulness practice in the psychology department at Bangor University. The drop-in sessions are a way of developing your own practice in a supportive environment. ⠀

Join Mandy Green this Friday evening in the Y&WR.

Why not take some time for you with my monthly evening yin class.
With mainly seated or laying down postures, you can simply take your foot off the accelerator and allow yourself time to escape from your busy day. And, for many, the busy first week back to school!

Yin yoga helps to balance out the chaos from our yang lifestyles.
In yin, poses are held for longer ( between 2-5 mins) this enables and allows the muscles to soften, so we are working deeper into the superficial tissues to target the fascia and connective tissues to help improve flexibility.

Slowing the pace down and taking time out allows the body and mind to relax and with the calming influence of the breath will also help to relax the nervous system to help reduce stress and relieve tension.

Please can you bring your own yoga mat, blanket, towel, cushions and anything else that you might need to assist you and make you feel more comfortable in the poses.

Lynne Jarrett and Louisa Cook became friends a few years ago when Louisa needed a yoga class and Lynne needed a massage. Over the years, they realised that their ethos was so well aligned that their skills could complement each other beautifully.
