Jewellers on tour ✨
After a lovely first day of GNCCF, me and Becca Macdonald Studio found a photo booth for the perfect impromptu jewellery photoshoot! We have been huge supporters of each others work for years, and its an absolute treat to be stand buddies this weekend

GNCCF Newcastle ✨
18th-21st June I will be at Northumbria University with and a display full of new work, including the first pieces from the new Skylines collection I’ve been working hard to develop in time
I’m really looking forward to this one, its been a few years since I’ve exhibited at a GNCCF event and its great to be back ✨
.amaker week - prompt 4 ✨
Before & After
Start to finish of a 9ct white gold sandcast wedding ring with cast in place Emeralds 🟩
I absolutely loved creating this heavily textured, organic, custom piece to fit around my customers engagement ring. From hand carved wax ring, pressed into sand and almost like magic, a solid gold ring with Emeralds appears
.amaker week - prompt 3 ✨

.amaker prompt 2 - Inspiration ✨
Where architecture meets nature. Texture, reflection, structure and Brualist forms
Its no secret that the Barbican, London has been an inspiration of mine for over a decade. Just yesterday I took a few hours before my train home from London to sit by the water and sketch what I saw. Inspiration has been lacking recently, I’ve been on autopilot and those few hours helped to wake up my creative mind again

This week is .amaker week 🥳
Our Monday prompt is ‘This is me’ - so, here I am! And here are 10 facts about me:
1. My full name is Amy Louise Stringer, which is why my hallmark is ALS in 3 diamonds
2. Born in Brighton, raised in Leeds, quick stop in Sheffield for uni and I’ve lived in Leeds ever since
3. My jewellery has been architecturally inspired since my degree, and this will be making a real comeback this year
4. I went to Leeds College of Art instead of taking traditional A Levels, it was the greatest decision I have ever made and lead me onto the path of jewellery
5. I originally wanted to be a fashion designer, I specialised in textile at college and used to make clothes - but quickly realised I didn’t have the personality for it!
6. Getting to make heirloom jewellery for people feels like the biggest privilege to me
7. I spent 5/6 years as the Head of Jewellery at - so I really do understand both sides of the business!
8. I absolutely love food and drink, after spending a long time closely involved in hospitality its something I have a huge interest in (cooking, eating out, cocktails and great wine)
9. I’m into my 11th year of business
10. I have been a .amaker member since the very beginning!
Meet the Maker Month ✨
Week 3 and we’re talking about, who is it for?
Bespoke, silver and gold jewellery and structural ceramics, they really are for everyone
Meek the Maker month ✨
Week 2, is all about what and why, which is a big one for me! As I explain through this reel, tradition is at the heart and route of everything that I make. Using deeply traditional hand skills to create bespoke, modern, decorative works for the body and home
What I don’t touch on in the video, but you do see a quick clip of, is wedding rings 💍
Making wedding rings has become a regular commission for me, and I could not love it more. Playing a part in strangers lives by creating one of *the* most traditional pieces of jewellery, could not be a more fitting direction for my practise
Stay tuned is year for multifunctional works, bespoke rings, slow craft and so much history ✨
Trial & Error ✨
As I still have so much to learn about working in ceramics, its where I’m still experiencing the biggest learning curves!
Those of you that catch my stories will have seen that I opened the kiln last weekend to a completely exploded shelf, with two huge pots exploding far beyond repair. I went on the glaze the rest of the pieces in glazes that I’d tested, and experienced different results from the inside to out!
Its all a learning experience, keeping the job interesting..
