⚠️ Product Safety Report for Vestel UK Plugs in Bush TiVo Televisions. 2 of 2

The products present a risk of fire as the plug fuse does not meet the dimensional requirements of BS 1362. A compliant, correctly rated fuse is required to ensure the safe operation of the product under fault conditions. Should a fault occur, the plug may overheat and catch fire.

This affects Vestel UK-branded plugs fitted to various models of Bush TiVo televisions sold by Argos from December 2024 – March 2026.

To check whether a product is affected and request a free replacement accessory (replacement power cable or fuse) you can visit: https://argos-productcheck.tmti.net/en/bush_tv_cable/start.html . Follow the online steps to arrange for a replacement plug and lead to be provided. Once the replacement plug lead has been received, customers should remove the original plug lead and dispose of it safely via a WEEE recycling facility. ⚠️

It was nice to be told by today’s customer it’s clear you do the job correctly. The last guy literally walked round with stickers and didn’t even unplug half the things.

Backed up by finding things like this ! A plug top on a twin and earth cable, previously passed.

They are known the industry as sticker jockeys, often subcontracting to large companies for pennies per test.

Due to a rather late cancellation I am now available this coming Monday 8th June.

There are unseen effects of late cancellations on small businesses.
- Time Restraints, your chances of filling an empty slot at short notice drop drastically.
- Lost Revenue, small businesses can not easily absorb the financial hit of an empty slot. Unfilled slots directly translate to lost wages.
- Turned Away Customers, canceling late means potential customers wanting that same slot may have already been turned away.
- Wasted Preparations, service based businesses often invest time in preparation before a job.

I know many will suggest a cancellation policy, but that comes with an added administrative burden and requiring deposits or strict commitments can deter potential clients in an already competitive market.

Unfortunately not the first time I’ve seen this.

We've recently encountered two pronged plugs in use in properties in Sheffield.

Those travel adaptors and two‑pronged plugs might seem quick and convenient… but they can be seriously dangerous if used incorrectly.

🔌 Here’s why:

- UK plugs are designed with a built‑in fuse to stop wires overheating
- Many two‑pin plugs and cheap adaptors don’t have this protection
- This can lead to overheating, electric shock or even fire
- Poor‑quality adaptors may also lack safety features like shutters or proper earthing

🚫 Never force a plug to fit or use unsafe adaptors in extension leads

✅ Always use properly fused, UK‑approved plugs or conversion plugs

Most electrical fires start silently - don’t let a simple plug put your home at risk.

Caught this one just in the nick of time.

Having their PAT testing carried out saved this business from going up in smoke❗️

Remember don’t overload your extension leads. Just because it has multiple sockets doesn’t mean its safe to use them all at the same time.
