The Rambling Photographer

Just a few quick photos from a ramble up Winter Hill yesterday. Went equipped for Bird Photography, but although I heard a lot of birds, I saw very few, and photographed even less, and those I did photograph were not worth your attention, dear viewer.

Got some great pictures of some of the sights on the moors however

So, today I went down to Preston Grasshoppers RFC to photograph the IGR Touch Series hosted by Typhoons RUFC. Saw some old friend clubs like Liverpool Tritons - Inclusive Rugby Club Leeds Hunters Rugby Coventry Corsairs RFC Birmingham Bulls RFC Nottinghamshire Hurricanes RFC Sheffield Vulcans Inclusive Rugby and took a few photomagraphs. Looking forward to seeing them all at next month!

another small post, from a loop of the Yarrow Reservoir, including a side-trek onto the West Pennine Way & The Limestone Brook. Slightly spoiled by two Bikers taking a break on a bridge having a homophobic conversation about gay photographers, while I am there taking some of the water photos included below. Not pictured: The pheasant photo where it made me jump out of my skin JUST as I was taking it, so it's just a blur

A smaller post than usual, from a visit to Brockholes in yesterday. Focusing on the wildlife rather than the landscapes for once

Yesterday, I took I took a trip to and after a wander round Ward's Reservoir (also known locally as the Blue Lagoon) I climbed Winter Hill, along the (much steeper) North slopes. I took advantage of the flat light from the cloud cover to take some greyscale photos. I also saw some interesting restoration work on the peat bog, still ongoing after the fires of 2018. Sadly, the Lagoon was not how I remembered it (or I had it mixed up with another reservoir) - even taking into account the 2011 draining (then subsequent refilling)

Next on the agenda are the west sides of the moors - White Coppice, Lead Mine Clough and the River Yarrow. Then I may expand the exploration of the moorland of Lancashire, and start on the Trough of Bowland!

Took a trip down to Preston Grasshoppers RFC today to photograph Hoppers Social Rugby and Aspull RFC 2nd team. a good little outing, and some good rugby.

so, went to Preston Grasshoppers RFC to watch their vet's side play a Cumbrian Barbarians, made up of players from Cockermouth Rufc Ambleside Rugby Club and Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Union Football Club Poor lighting limited the range of decent pictures, but some good pictures are lurking in the shadows. Yes, I am too lazy to adjust them all for brightness
