King post retaining walls are often the quiet, space-efficient answer to tricky retaining challenges.

In our latest article, Suttle Piling explains how king post retaining walls provide a versatile, cost-effective option for permanent and temporary works, especially where space is tight and disruption must be kept to a minimum.

From low-noise, low-vibration installations at sensitive sites like Alumhurst Road Hospital, to large-scale storage solutions at Sevington Depot - real projects show how different piling methods and infill options can be tailored to suit ground conditions, appearance and operational needs.

Suttle Piling have been awarded the contract for delivering sheet piling works for Mildren Construction Limited on a new Starbucks drive‑thru next to the BP service station at Buckmore Business Park near Petersfield.

Our in-house design team has specified GU13 interlocking steel sheet piles to form a high-strength sheeting system, ideal for supporting the faces of large excavations.

Using our 22t Movax piling rig from our self-operated fleet, once works start we expect to complete installation – including mobilisation – within just two weeks.

Choosing a piling method shouldn’t be constrained by the only option a contractor can offer – it should always and only be about the right technique for the job.

In our latest article, Suttle Piling explores why project requirements should always drive piling choices.

From reviewing geotechnical data, access and environmental constraints to selecting and refining methods like CFA, SFA, rotary bored and sheet piling - we show how a method-agnostic approach leads to better buildability, reduced risk and more predictable outcomes.

Agile ground engineering can make or break a station build – especially when the programme changes at short notice.

In our latest article, Suttle Piling shares how a flexible mix of SFA and CFA piling, combined with the smart use of self-operated CH450 and Klemm 709 rigs, kept the Okehampton Interchange project on track despite a late switch from daytime to night-time working.

The piece shows how method-agnostic design, the right plant and an experienced team deliver safe, efficient foundations around live rail infrastructure and tight access.

Rotary bored piling opens up options that standard CFA piling simply can’t match.

In our latest article, Suttle Piling explains how rotary bored piles deliver larger diameters, greater depths and reliable performance in challenging ground conditions – from high groundwater and loose soils to rock and granular materials.

We look at how the method works, when it outperforms CFA, and the trade-offs around spoil, access and environmental considerations.

🌊 We’ve successfully delivered complex marine sheet piling works at the historically significant Supermarine Quay, Southampton.

⏱️ Working against the clock with just a six-day window to complete critical river piling works, before the introduction of environmental restrictions, our team mobilised rapidly to install a new reinforced sheet pile wall while overcoming unforeseen underground obstructions and challenging site conditions.

👏🏻 The completed works will help secure the long-term stability and operational lifespan of the quay infrastructure for years to come.

Piling might not be glamorous, but it’s the difference between a structure that simply stands and one that stands the test of time.

In our latest article, Suttle Piling breaks down driven, bored and CFA piling in plain English – explaining where each method works best, and how our in-house design team and self-operated fleet combine to deliver the optimum solution for every project.

From challenging ground conditions to access-constrained sites, we tailor the piling to the project, not the other way round.

Diverting rivers and working in and around watercourses is never straightforward – but it’s often the only way to create safe, dry spaces for permanent construction.

In our latest article, Suttle Piling lifts the lid on how we manage complex river and inland watercourse projects: from cofferdams and temporary access roads to dewatering strategies, environmental controls and innovative solutions like floating bridge systems.

Real schemes such as DNaire Fish Pass, Fiddleford Manor Hydro-Turbine, West Lydford Weir and M27 Romsey Road Bridge show how our teams combine engineering expertise with careful planning to keep projects safe, compliant and on programme.

Getting ground investigation wrong can derail a project before it even starts. Getting it right can lock-in programme, budget and long-term performance.

In our latest article, Suttle Piling explains how partnering early on ground investigation (from deep boreholes and in-situ testing to robust factual reporting and permanent solution recommendations) provides the data and insight needed to de-risk design and delivery.

By combining investigation, in-house design and a full range of piling and ground support techniques - we help clients choose solutions that work for both initial build cost and asset lifecycle.
