Our courses from SCQF level 5 to HND and Degree at Perth focus on using the outdoors as a tool for education and learning.

Combining theory and practice, we support you to become a truly rounded outdoor educator and adventure sports coach.

A bit late in posting this but a massive congratulations is due to 12 of our students from across our outdoor courses who completed their Paddlesport Instructor qualification a few weeks ago.

We embed NGB courses like this within the UHI Perth and .scotland units that make up our NQ Outdoor Activities & Leadership (L5) and NQ Coaching & Leading Adventure Sports (L6) college courses.

Students on the HNC / HND Adventure Sports Coaching & Development can also access the same NGB courses which means our students quickly gain relevant employment in the outdoor sector both locally during term time and further afield during the summer season.

Our HNC Adventure Sports Coaching & Development students were out at Rosyth Quarry getting their first trad climbing leads and managing retrievable abseils. A well earned and productive day!

A great day in the sun trap that is Kirrie Hill today for our Level 6 Coaching & Leading Adventure Sports students. They've worked hard through the winter in the climbing wall, completing their Climbing Wall Instructor training course and now get to take advantage of the spring weather at the crag.

We’re already accepting applications for next academic year so if you like the look of this, get in touch!

Chris has been a driving force in reviving and strengthening Paddle Scotland’s surf committee. As a member of the Surf Development Group, he has volunteered tremendous time to coordinate sessions, build community, and shape the vision for surf kayaking in Scotland. His role includes mentoring newer paddlers, delivering webinars, and championing surf-kayak events.

Notably, Chris has been instrumental in integrating paddle-sport with Scotland’s newest surf landmark: the Lost Shore Surf Resort in Edinburgh. As recognised by the Lost Shore team, he volunteers to provide booking links, organise meetups, and foster a welcoming environment for the surf-kayak community. His efforts help ensure that this cutting-edge inland wave pool becomes a vibrant hub not just for beginners, but for dedicated surf kayakers too.

Through his volunteer leadership, Chris is helping to build a surf kayaking community that is inclusive, sustainable, and forward-looking. He embodies the spirit of Paddle Scotland – connecting people, nurturing skills, and growing paddlesport from the grassroots.

Many congratulations on a well deserved accolade Chris, may you continue to inspire us with your hard work and dedication to Paddlesports!

Well done to our L5 Outdoor Activity & Leadership students (plus some L6 and HNC Coaching Adventure Sports students who joined in) for completing their course. Much more training than the usual 16 hours, we finished the course with a visit to the base at Blairgowrie.

Massive thanks to Hannah from TMRT for helping out at the base, with the advanced first aid and casualty packaging skills and giving the students another voice to listen to for a while ☺️

This is fantastic news - great for all young people and also great for the outdoor education providers and those looking to or already working as instructors.
