It has the power to reduce the risk of heart diseases, and alleviate stress and anxiety. Studies have also shown that positive thinking can increase a person’s life span and keep them healthy for a longer period. In fact, positive thinking is so crucial to your body, that it can help build immunity and resistance towards minor illnesses such as the common cold.

Tips for coping in hot weather ☀️

Keep out of the heat if you can. If you have to go outside, stay in the shade especially between 11am and 3pm, wear sunscreen, a hat and light clothes, and avoid exercise or activity that makes you hotter.

Cool yourself down. Have cold food and drinks, avoid alcohol, caffeine and hot drinks, and have a cool shower or put cool water on your skin or clothes.

Keep your living space cool. Close windows during the day and open them at night when the temperature outside has gone down. Electric fans can help if the temperature is below 35 degrees. Check the temperature of rooms, especially where people at higher risk live and sleep.

Reminder: at 3pm today there will be a test of the Emergency Alert system across the UK.

You will receive a message on the home screen of your mobile phone, along with a sound and vibration for up to ten seconds.

You do not need to take any action - the sound and vibration will stop automatically after ten seconds. All you need to do is swipe away the message or click ‘OK’ on their phone’s home screen - just like for a ‘low battery’ warning or notification - and continue to use your phone as normal.
