Thank you for playing this lovely fully restored antique violin so people can hear its voice Ursula. I am now looking for a loving home for it. These particular Stainer copy models copy sell in violin shops for well over £1000. It's for sale at £500. That is less than wholesale price. And it is perfectly set-up with the bridge and sound post tuned to the violin over many days of setting it up. Any violin teachers who want to listen to their students play on a really nice student instrument then this is a good way to go. And the students will benefit too. LOOKING TO BUY A VIOLIN IN NOTTINGHAM? For the past year I've been reviewing violins for Dr Mike Sutton, a retired criminologly professor who took up violin restoration during lockdown. He buys old violins that have been rotting in attics, restores them and sells them on at very little or no profit because he simply wants to get them into the hands of violin students who don't want a factory issue stentor at affordable prices. His prices start at £60. The one I am playing is a 3/4 French Mirecourt which is not yet listen but should be up soon. It was my favourite of the last bunch and should be in the hands of a talented young student who loves the violin.

Really happy to take on new student Sidor who wants to learn violin in 3 months. You can see Sidor playing percussion in Nottingham Town centre every weekend. His first lesson was excellent - he can already do vibrato! Really honoured to take on such a brilliant musician and hopefully in 3 month's time he'll be entertaining Nottingham on his violin.

When I agreed to take on a 3 year old student, I had no idea whether it would work. Aurora was obviously musical but the violin is complicated to teach, even for adult learners!

During the first lesson, she was mainly waving the violin around and rolling on the floor giggling.

Just over a year later and we have achieved our first mile stone. Aurora can now play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star from her very own bespoke sheet music.

I am amazed at the results and look forward to helping her work towards her first performance!

Although progress is slower, starting students young does work and I would be confident to take on more 3 year old students going forward.

Thanks to Aurora and her Mum for giving me a chance to learn something new, and for brightening my Saturdays every week!
